That strikes me as very unlikely. Wigan won't be paying huge money for Green, so even if we get a subsidy from Penrith, Burns would have to be on pretty meagre deal.

That said, financially it looks like a win.

With two years left on his contract it would have to be a good offer for Rovers to want to cut short the deal of a very important player for us.

Depends on how much Rovers want him and how much he wants away. If he's really keen for a move then Rovers are faced with the option of making a deal for whatever fee they can agree or paying a player who doesn't want to be at the club for two years.

Burns coming available has likely made it a bit more palatable, especially if it means that we effectively free up more money to strengthen elsewhere. And good though he's been, [ianother[/i injury blighted season and we'd want shot most likely and struggle to do it.
While I'm not a fan of the competitive imbalance of SL, it is real and it'd be a bit harsh to stand in Blake's way for what is a great opportunity for him.
If we get £60-80k we'll have done very well - I can't see that covering Burns' deal for 2 years. As Penrith are paying him off, it might do for 1 season. All guesswork, like.

The club appear to be offloading a number of 'big earners' whether they're surplus or worth keeping. If nothing else it should give plenty of cap to play with.
