| Quote: Gavin Miller - Legend "Replicated across the city with the resigning of Ewan 'Tackle Buster' Dowes.'"
This would be the "Tackle Buster" Dowes that indeed broke more tackles last season than superstar Moobs Clinton, Liam Watts, Jason Netherton or Scott Wheeldon managed?

Yet still Hull only kept him because they missed out on their front row targets and decided at the 11th hour that there was nobody else on the market.

1 more bust than Liam but Dowes had taken the ball up 24 more times but Liam has off loaded 17 more times which if I was you I would be worried about.

| Quote: Gavin Miller - Legend "Also quite convieniant that you failed to mention that Dowes played more games then all those barring Watts who played Loose Forward for most of the year.
How does playing Loose Forward effect things?
The top 3 tackle busters in SL were Tomkins, Chase and Manu. After them 3 it was a few wingers and centres.
There's been no claim that Dowes is a great prop, but you chose to ridicule him for tackle busting, something it transpires he's not actually that bad at.

| I'm not claiming that Dowes is a great prop. GML picked him out as an embarrassment, very specifically in the tackle bust department. Fact is, even as 5th choice workhorse (ie non impact) prop, his tackle busts per game are better than most Rovers props. Bring other elements of the game into it if you like, but that's irrelevant to GML singling out Dowes' alleged ineffectiveness as a tacklebuster when, in comparison, he compares favourably to Clinton, Watts, Netherton and Wheeldon. Strange he not laughing at them, particularly when you consider Clinton was the highest paid forward at the Broncos, yet breaks fewer tackles than a no-mark like poor Dowes.
None of which is to do with David Mills, strange how its off thread again mrs b

| So where has Mills actually gone if he's not re-signed with us?

| With the regards to the 'tackle bust' statistics , I suppose that only tells some of the story.
Part of the equation would be how many defenders are required to stop the run.
Not seen enough of Dowes to know how many defenders are generally assigned to stop his rampaging attacking runs.

Standing up to the forum bully.
It must be working, he doesn't like me...i'm devastated: |
|
| Am i right in thinking Dowes stalled on a new contract due to a proposed pay cut and whilst OCC hull AFAIK hardly seemed overwhelmed from other S.L. coaches with offers to sign him up..... and when he did re-sign because of hull's failure to capture other projected targets the majority of fans on their forum didn't seem overly impressed he had been re-signed.
Likewise the overwhelming majority of Rovers fans were delighted Mills was released so on reflection it appears most HKR fans and Mrs B were all delighted with their respective clubs aquisition and release respectively.

At last the true point comes out.
Mills was Rovers weakest Prop and was released.
Dowes is Hull's weakest and got a new deal.
