I not sure the reason that Cooke hasnt produced the goods very often at Rovers, I would guess that the main reason would be him playing he wrong role a Rovers, at full he played therole of SF, no matter what number or position he was down as. At Rovers he played 2nd fiddle to Webster and Dobson.
I hope JM brings out a book one day, would love to know if he wanted to sign Cooke?'"
I'll forgive you as you never went to many rovers games that year (or did you) He played a lot of decent games that year and a fair few very good ones. Salford away being the prime one in my mind, that was the game that realistically decided whether we stayed up or went down and I belive Cookie was MoM.
His kicking was one area we were seriously lacking in prior to his arrival, Gareth Morton was a decent kicker but not a SL level player, therefore he was having to be played purely for his kicking abilities. Cookes move also freed up Murrell to go to 13, a position he excelled in (cats away to name but one).
Morgan may not have wanted to sign cooke, and I believe if he'd had his way he'd have sacked him after the KC derby when he was dropped for club discipline reasons. But there is a belief among Hull fans that he only plays well against them and this is far from the truth.

| Quote: Willa "esders - Never given a chance, so I won't class him as a poor signing.
mills - see my above post
Cooke - are you seriously telling me Cooke was a poor player when he signed for Rovers?
Fozzard - a decent signing for a guy nearing the veteran stage, didn't work out that well, but this is about signing poor players, not how they perform after signing
Wilson - Who?
Smith - Michael? Well, considering Harvey Howard signed him, we can move on
Bauer - "Rough Diamond", signed for peanuts and did a job for us, 'nuff said.
Gannon - possibly, but like all promoted clubs, we had to pick over the rejects and he was one of only a few SL players available at the time. On balance, I will give you that one.

| Gannon did ok and we used him as much as he used us, he was probably ever present in a team that stayed up and will always have to rely on journey men pros like gannon.

Cooke's best game in the 2007 season was at Salford. I have no doubt whatsoever that had he not been in our side we would have lost that game. If that had happened we would have gone bottom for the 1st time in the season and things may have been very different for both Salford and ourselves from therein. As it was, he had a blinder, we put distance between them & us, and it demoralised them to such an extent they never won another game.
And that's before we get to September 2nd!

Poor Morgan signings are more widespread than many on here would have you believe, but as a % of total signings, I imagine its still quite low. The following are examples of poor signings (IMO of course!)
They might not have been poor palyers when he signed them but they've certainly become poor players under his regime.
I quite like morgan but don't think he's anywhere near the great coach some make him out to be

Yes he is.
In any case, look at how players like Murrell, Fisher, Lovegrove, Fox + many others have developed/are developing under Morgan.

Bottom line is he's taken many players from the NL such as some of those mentioned, and turned them into SL players, which is all you can ask for after just 3 seasons in SL.

Has he? Wasn't murrell a leeds cast off? i'anson too? Mcrae took leeds cast offs and turned them into internationals at Hull. Other than fisher I don't think you have any players from the NL do you?

Who knowingly signs proven rubbish players?Wilson - Who? I guess he's before your time. Smith - Michael? Well, considering Harvey Howard signed him, we can move on. Thought he signed in 2007
Bauer - "Rough Diamond", signed for peanuts and did a job for us, 'nuff said. he was rubbish, is rubbish never ever ever a super league player. Possilbly one of 2 definants on this list that answer the original question
Gannon - possibly, but like all promoted clubs, we had to pick over the rejects and he was one of only a few SL players available at the time. On balance, I will give you that one. thanks (this wasn't one of my 2 definates)

| Anway back to the title of the thread and Paul Cooke.
I do not think he will go anywhere, I think he will see out his contract with KR and move on next term.

I did, thought it was amusing. Much better than some of the words I've heard used to describe him
