| Quote: Starbug "Correct , if Rovers were to make a final there would suddenly be 20,000 wearing the shirt , these are the people the club is targetting in suggesting they want 14,000 at each game , that along with good quality accomodation for away fans will result in the target being reached'"
So they are fans that would travel to attend a final but not a game against Crusaders at Craven Park.
Really passionate.

I stood at leeds in torrential rain blowing in my face last year for over an hour before the game started, soaking wet, I couldnt see the far end try line but was there anyway but guess what, i went back again for the playoff when we was on a hiding to nothing! Obviously your lot didnt bother!
We'll look after our supporters first by building the east stand extension, then think about your lot later!'"
But you already are there old chap, simply by following Rovers.

| Quote: World of Redboy "That just about sums Hull KR upto a tee. Maybe if the idiot who allowed the stadium to be designed like it was in the first place had remembered their job was to cater for away fans as well, maybe your ground which is only 20 years old wouldn't be boycotted my most away fans'"
That dosnt sum Hull KR upto a tee present day, i was saying that we're building the east stand extension to accomadate the fans we know will fill it then eventually build a south stand, finances permitting. We wont fill a brand new south stand with visiting fans from celtic harlequins catalans etc. so it is a lower priority.
The ground is a bad design and built on a limited budget from the proceeds of the old ground 20 years ago and mistakes were obviously made but in time and through a lot of hard work and determination the ground will be much improved, firstly for home fans obviously, we'll look forward to you travelling across when its upto your high standards, though like i said in earlier posts it dosnt matter about the view or facilities when i go away to support my team.

| Neil Hudgel said the aim was to get the capacity up to around 14k and and try and fill it or get it as near to full as possible week-in-week out. This was mentioned about a year ago and he said they felt it would be realistic to aim for that within the next 5 years. It's not exactly a 14k 'average', but an ambitious project to get crowds up to that sort of level.
Don't get me wrong it'll take a great deal of hardwork and is totally dependent on the development of the stadium, but the catchment area is easily big enough to generate that level of matchday support so it surprises me that having gone from 2/3k to 8/9k in 3 years, people think it's unrealistic.

Not strictly true. If we develop the stadium and let the product on the pitch deteriorate then crowds will dwindle not grow. This is the reason why we can't just run at 500k below cap to redress the losses, without the standard being maintained (or improved) on the pitch, I'm not convinced we have sufficient loyalty amongst our current 8,500 regulars to stay with the club. Maybe 7,000 would turn up to watch every week (like in 2007 when we only won 3 home games), but the rest demand quality.

I didn't mean it like that, I meant without the development of the stadium it couldn't happen.

Fair point, well made.
I humbly apologise for grasping the wrong end of the stick.

Cheers. So seems that my mate knows more than most on here about the aspirations of your club ( surprised that our esteemed member of teh local press didn't know this one)

Ha, no worries. You made a fair point anyway, but I actually think facilities counts for a lot. Look how hull's attendances increased with the kc move, and whilst they dropped a little last year, they still get good crowds despite having had two very mediocre seasons on the bounce.
Fact is as it stands unless you can commit/afford a season pass, you're either going to get a poor view or at best an average seat exposed to the elements watching Rovers. Increase the capacity and improve the facilities and suddenly you appeal to those who can't/won't buy a pass (and thats a hell of a lot of people).

GML was refering to Hudge's recent comments that it is important to aim for a 10k average. That is the short term aim, but he has said that long-term we would be looking closer to 14k.

I disagree. Hull get good crowds because they have had some success in the recent past and the increased interest from rover being in SL. There will be an element of improvement due to the stadium but not that significant IMO. Hull are basically where they were in 1982/83 in attendance terms.
There are plenty of other sports teams in new stadiums who haven't seen massive increase in attendances
