Finch knocked back our first offer but, as Justin gets what he wants, we will up the ante to get him...Finch is a good RL player no doubt and would be an excellent addition to the squad at the correct value but once again looks like Rovers will be paying international players wages for a non-international standard player..

Why not aim for the absolute best if we are going to pay top dollar anyway..???

Regardless of the outcome JM needs to refine his salary cap mangement technique and Rovers have far too many not quite top class overseas players...we would be better off with three world class players , two "something to prove" types and some younger, hungry English talent to complement them..

Or goes on the premise the more cr@p he posts that someone, somewhere may one day believe it.

This was a discussion I had recently with my rovers supporting mate. If we assume rovers are fairly near to the salary cap limit they do appear to be paying over the odds for the calibre of player they have.

Without getting into the form/injuries/worth of individuals, Hull have 3 former Oz and SOO regulars (not 1 cap wonders) and SL's best ever scrum half in their salary cap, other sides have similar numbers of "stars", whilst rovers don't really have any

Long is superb player, but you take his caps and his reputation if it makes you feel better - where is he now?? Dobson on the other hand - our 'NRL reserve grade reject' hasn't missed a single game through injury. He made the SL dream team last year and has been an awesome signing for us.

Quite frankly if offered either of the two players, I'd take Dobson every time - no contest.

I couldn't care less that Galea and Newton don't have a single aussie cap between them, or how much SOO they haven't played - any SL club would take them in a heartbeat. Christ, we've had ten times the value for money out of Ben Fisher that you've had from superstar Shaun Berrigan. Yet Fish is constantly lambasted on these boards as being a waste of an overseas spot.

Appears its ok to waste money on injury-prone hit-and-miss players as long they have a decent CV.

Funny how virtually the same set of average players Rovers are so horrendously paying over the odds for formed the 4th best side in SL last year. One patchy season [ithat isn't even over yet[/i, and all of a sudden they're written off. Every club makes good and bad signings, but those who know the game know reputations count for nothing.

You see, you're exactly the kind of fool who I expected to come back with a response like that. The market value of an Australian and SOO regular is higher than that of a player who has never played SOO or international. Do you understand that? So assuming rovers are near the cap then they are paying more for lower quality players. It's a simple concept

You mean the man who dragged a rubbish bradford side into 4th place? Looked very good in a poor bradford side. They paid way over the odds for him though as is being proven now when they have put all of their eggs in one basket and don't think they have won since he got injured.
