Still think he'll have an issue with the number of 5th tackle pens and the number of soft ones, even though Hicks is a bit OTT on the pen front.

Still too many soft pens on the 5th tackle, but I'm pleased for him, I think he's a good coach. fast clean passing was a key yesterday.

The passing is up their with the fastest in the league under sandercock, it's one thing sandercock has brought that Morgan didn't, a fast, exciting, direct attack.

I could'nt agree with you more, this is one of the best attacking Rovers sides i have seen in many many years, the speed at which the ball is moved accross the park is a joy to watch, a few of us commented yesterday that seeing such a deep attacking line is something that we have been wanting to see for a long time.
If Sandy can sort the defensive issues out which personaly i believe he will do, then we could be in for some very positive times ahead , on yesterdays evidence the halfback combination lookes like it could be one of the best in superleague imo, they will certainly get better with more game time together and as the grounds become harder.

Our left edge is an absolute joy to watch in attack. With Burns, Dobson, Eden, Paterson, Welham and Hodgson all running different angles, defences cannot know where the ball is going to go and this creates havoc. A number of times yesterday when we were sweeping down that left hand side I followed the dummy runner thinking he had the ball for 2-3 seconds before I realised the pass had gone elsewhere. It's almost mesmerising from the stands. So yes I'm sure it will often go wrong but we won't half see some joy down there.

And you lost by more to a much worse Widnes side. The green shoots of progress are showing. Believe and all that.

Good point, never thought about it like that. Needs someone who is used to watching a losing side to show you that every cloud has a silver lining

....in a totally different game, last season wire started like a house on fire then went off the boil thinking it was too easy and we clawed the game back. Whilst not getting too carried away rightly with one win (against a depleted but still very good side, 12 of the grand final team), the manner of the performance is what's pleasing everyone.

There we were a team who could not defend to save our lives apparently with seemingly no chance of beating the big boys and only an occasional high scoring win to look forward to at a fellow strugglers expense and we turn in a thoroughly dominant performance in all aspects of the game against a decent side (except for a dodgy 10 minute spell in the middle of the 1st half), that's what's so encouraging. Of course it means nothing if we now lose the next 9 games but I think most people saw enough in that performance to see we'll be alright this season after all.

Indeed, however there were some good performances early on last season but, like most of superleague, rovers just don't have a good enough squad of players to keep up this level of performance week in, week out.

I'm glad you won anyway as I would have hated to see sandy sacked

non of last years good performances were as dominant and composed as that performance though against one of the big boys, even our big wins over hudds were typical rovers see saw affairs, as you say though we shall see.
