| Good loan signing for HKR. He's been one of the standout players at Wigan academy level for the last two years.
He's big and fast, and IMO is a better prospect than Colbon or Ainscough.

Because he is better than anything you have at that level.

Yes.
Trust me, he is an excellent prospect, and was due to play at Catalan for Wigan last weekend if Pat Richards had not made the trip.
Richards only arrived on Sunday morning as his wife is expecting a baby any time now.

We're coming to make some noise!: |
|
| I am glad we are getting someone who sounds like a top larker however it eats at me that we are giving Wigan a helping hand to bring on one of their youngsters who will no doubt become a class SL player in the near future. We could be giving our youngsters a chance here to prove themselves as Kris Welham did only last year and Scott Taylor and even Latus of late.
Mariano may not have been playing great in the academy set up but he is a big unit, has pace and is difficult to stop when played at centre. He does have a first team debut already under his belt but that I think was in the cup against lower league oposition and also playing in the back row and not centre.
I hope the kid does well and I also hope we keep hold of him till October and he scores the winning try at Old Trafford but I guess he'll be heading back to the rainy side of the pennines in 4 weeks time and maybe will score the winning try at Old Trafford but in Cherry not Red and White!!!!

| Hope he has a good spell at your place - he lives three doors down from me and he is a really good lad. Hopefully, if he plays Friday night, hope he has a stinker!
Seriously though, I am sure you will be impressed with him. He can also kick which might help or give options other than Dobson.

| Probably necessary with Welham, Ratu, Walker and Webster out, the last 3 at least long-term.

Fail to see why he is 'needed'. I'm with nickhkr on this one. Frankie Mariano is already at the club, on the payroll and has been training with the first team for a year and a half yet he hasn't had a look in.
Very poor on Morgans part imho.

I'd say its because he's seen as more of a back row forward now

Ahhh...the old '[ioh he's big he should be in the forwards[/i' line. He is not unfamilier with centre and has played enough there to do a job for the club. He is quick and big and could just cause Leeds a few problems with the ball given the chance. I guess had Greg Inglis have come through the ranks at Rovers he'd be playing prop now
The only people to benefit from this loan deal are the player and Wigan. Do you seriously think a player with no first team experience at all will make such a huge difference to Rovers?? Whats more he goes straight into the team without a training session under his belt. Crazy!!!!

I think that the top and bottom of it is that Morgan doesnt think that Frankie can do a job in the centres at Super League level. This will be why he has been moved into the backrow in the reserves. Nothing to do with his size. I dont think it bodes well for him either that Scott Taylor has by-passed him in that role aswell.
Our 2 centres in the reserves are currently Liam Salter and Josh Wilson. Neither are ready for first team action.
FWIW i would have stuck with our current squad if nobody with first team experience was available on loan and just shuffled things about a bit, perhaps even with Frankie getting a go in the back-row.
The fact that this kid has been rushed in this week probably means that Briscoe will still be missing and Cockayne is staying at full back.
