what does he say in his half time talks?
we cant seem to turn over a first half deficit, he needs to start using the hair dryer treatment IMO, shake them up at half time because whatever hes saying or doing now just isnt working is it.
we go in at half time after a half with nothing to show and come back out with same mentality.

i would have thought it will be something along the lines off stick to the game plan it will come.

morgs seems to base his plans on squeezing the opp until something gives ,i dont think hes the type to panic into making decisions .
he usually gets it right when it matters .

i dont think there should be any hunting down of morgans tactics or team talks,we all know the way he plays the game and so do the players.
applying pressure usually does the trick .
some you win and some you loose.
come the end of the season i think we will be in the play offs which is all that matters .
when push comes to shove morgs knows his stuff..

Quote: smartmart "he usually gets it right when it matters'"

Two home QF cup defeats ( and the blatant failure to deal with extra time) and the abject play off displays would suggest otherwise..

JM was a breath of fresh air at Rovers and deserves all the plaudits that come his way but his safety first, formulaic rugby will never win any pots at the top table..I assume he doesnt trust the present of set of players to play any other way because the rugby we played in our promotion year was breathtaking at times and contained much originality yet has been long discarded.

It is hard to swallow sometimes that we are at the same cap spend as the top end clubs, the vast quality in difference "when it matters" is head scratching, some serious money has been wasted since our first season SL heroics..he has another the chance to build a "new" team next year but failure to make a dent then will pose some serious questions...

The derby , perhaps the "when it matters" time that Morgan has got right so far, will be interesting now we have lost the common factor linking our recent dominance in said matches...

who's to say he doesn't give the hairdryer and that technique isn't working. Fair few assumptions being made.

We are spending up to the cap. Either the players arent up to it or the coach. Simple.

That's not really a fair assesment is it? We still have contracted players that we had to offer perhaps either extended contracts or inflated contracts to in order to get them to sign during our first year of SL. Plus we have not had the benefit of young players coming through the ranks on lower cost contracts enabling "star" wages for world class players to be brought in.

I don't think we'll be truly on par with the top teams in terms of value from the cap until, at least, next year or the year after.

I often see JM at half-time and believe me, the emotion, frustration ([iwhen things aren't going to plan[/i), and passion for Rovers shown on his face is certainly there and without doubt he can give the 'hair dryer' half-time team talk.

Exactly. And without wishing to be too negative or deferential, when did mid-table in SL become 'not good enough'. We should aspire to be as good as possible, but delusions of grandeur most often lead to disappointment and angst.
After a long run of fantastic progress, we are going through an 'only' okayish spell. Shouldn't be too much of a drain on people's reserves of stoicism.

i just dont get how every time we play very poorly first half, we come out for the second half just the same.
obviously i dont know what JM does in there at half time (i wish i did) but IMHO when were behind and playing poorly he cant get the players to raise it.

To be fair, against Wakefield we played really well in the first half and managed to turn it around in the second.

fans hopes have been inflated by last years finish in SL,
we have a good side with plenty of good players, it will come good given time.
were all frustrated when defeats come our way ,but its not about the defeat its about how we react to the defeat .
i honestly think come good friday we will give FC a good thumping, and if we dont then we sit down and see how we can improve and if so we ripp the game plan up and start again.
Morgans the man to take this club were it desperatly wants to be we all just need to have a bit of patient's when things go wrong.
10 years ago i would have been walking out of that ground with the other thousand or so people wishing and hoping to get even a sniff at super league, think back to the days of been beaten by barrow 0-1 ,featherstone rovers defeat in the play offs ,awful performances at places like batley hunslet workington etc etc .
im happy to be here and im happy with the progress this club has made thus far.
if were still having this debate and morgans in charge in 5 years then hell yer something drastic needs to change.
have faith people get behind your team win loose or draw ..

Quote: smartmart "fans hopes have been inflated by last years finish in SL,'"

Partially true, fans hopes are inflated by the fact we are spending the same money on our squad as Leeds, Saints, Warrington, Wigan, Huddersfield, Hull and whoever else spends to the cap..and yet our squad is without doubt of less quality than at least five out of six, maybe six, Friday will tell us...

Why is that..??? One man and one man only has spent the money, one of the few coaches that suffer no boardroom interference regardless , the vast amount of the cap goes on Australian nationals who use the same agent (our coach only deals with two agents...why??? , certain players are off limits because of this..why???). What is the return..??.7th or 8th this year perhaps..but with no hope of actually been a threat..

If it was your £1.7 million been spent would you be satisfied just to be an also ran..?? Surely coaches as good as JM is held up to be by such as Smartmart could do wonders spending the full salary cap...???

Many questions to be answered..but i doubt the money men will wait five years for the answers....
