Found this on VT...

Sounds like some of the clubs (Rovers & Hull included) are very unhappy with the new league structure propsals & are meeting today. More details in League Express appartently.
Wonder where this is going?

| As someone has said on that thread. Could this be the start of a split of SL clubs from the RFL in the same way the 1st division clubs did in football to create the EPL.

Or arguably the original SL split/breakaway - until reintegration in 2002.
The club owners/chairmen are more powerful than they are united. The split seems to be within SL at least as much as with the RFL.
We've had a surfeit of policy and 'vision', where perhaps a governing body would be better sticking to procedure and letting the clubs find their own way within a looser framework.

It doesn't look like a level split though as although it's 7 out of 14 teams 6 of those 7 are teams that made the playoffs. Leeds and Catalans were the only playoff teams not agreeing.

Even [iif[/i we were to diminish the importance of the opinion of Cas, Wakefield, Salford and so on, the absence of Leeds from the dissidents list spells impasse to me.
I'd happily bet we don't agree completely on the path forward with Hull FC. McManus led the 'Bradford are too big to be allowed to fall' argument, of which Hudgell was definately not a devotee. There'll be tensions within that group. We do get on well with Hudds and Wigan though, I know.

You do wonder what Gary H's play is in this as the impression I get is that he always has one.

| A thought has struck me. Isn't Ian L who is the owner of Wigan also the former owner of London?

| Yep, and rumours abound that the bloke who "owns" London now is still bank rolled by Lenagan, something to do with Sports Café or whatever it's called.
The above is more than likely completely wrong.

| I only mention it because as much as Leeds name being missing was an eyebrow raising moment so was London on that list. That is until you remember the connection above.

| MMM hard one to call, for one i`d like to see the rfl ousted as they have showed that they cannot be impartial when it comes to certain teams... If this does cause a split from rfl then will they drop the sc and quota sys so that they can operate as is and with whatever players they bring in...can see some teams going down the nal route if they do ie all foreignors..... lots of ifs and maybes i know...but i`m sure it will cross a few peoples minds.... back to the wigan winning everything days of the 90`s
as for leeds being missing off that list....that didn`t surprise me one little bit...

| More about this on the Wigan board. Sounds like Ian Lenagan sees the Hetheringtons as a major part of the problem.
