I have to say what pace Welham had to stop Briscoe. I think he covered over 100m on a cross field run to Briscoe's 70m and had time to slow down and make a great tackle.

Briscoe is a good player for them but not an International. He runs like Basil Faulty and is not as quick as some people think. He should play in the 2nd row with his strength and Welham should be playing for England.

Welham's defence will not gain him international honours.

It also appears that being the joint top & points scorer in super league wont get him picked both him & Yeaman should be lining up for England on Friday.

Welham continues to improve at a massive rate. I'm sure that the England coaching staff have told him the areas they feel he needs to improve in order to gain selection and i have no doubt that his attitude will see that he works on them and ultimately win an England jersey.

Just cannot see why Shenton is in. On form I agree both Welham and Yeoman should be there but then you look at the full England team and there are few that should not be in.

From what I have seen of Welham, he has improved massively over the past couple of seasons and deserves to be on the periphery of selection alongside Yeaman.

That said, Chris Bridge has looked fantastic will ball in hand recently and is on another level to Welham defensively.

Michael Shenton was outstanding on his only Four Nations start last year and in the Four Nations Final the year before. He deserves another chance following a sound rather than spectacular start for St Helens.

Then there is the in-form Leroy Cudjoe and Ryan Atkins in the squad...so Welham's (or Yeaman's) omission is hardly 'glaring'!

It was going so well for you until you used the words "in form" and "Ryan Atkins" in the same sentence.

Looked on pretty good terms with himself when going 60 yards vs the Crusaders at the weekend.

Was good versus Leeds the week before too!

Welham for England....
He is deservedly an international but wasnt it great to see Welham catch him.
Would have been an almost replica of his try at the KC a few years ago otherwise.

Did he not brush a couple off close to the line though or am I mistaken?
