Back Tony Smith wanted him what does anybody think

Wasn’t he in charge of defence when we last got relegated? If I’m correct that’s a real concern.

Tony Smith coached him as a player and this is the third time he has been his assistant coach. I presume he knows all his attributes and failings by now.

It’s easy to form very firm opinions about people without any actual facts or first hand information. TS obviously is a very poor assessor of people’s coaching abilities. He really must start consulting with the contributors to this forum before making any decisions.

Einstein quoted doing the same thing twice and expecting different results is the definition of madness. I will leave the last two posters with this.

Tony Smith did do the same thing twice by appointing him as his assistant at both Leeds and Warrington so he obviously didn't expect different results.

If you are quoting something at least get it right.

I do appreciate your sentiments but we in any case are not now doing that. Tony Smith is making changes to the club and the team so that hopefully we don’t get the same result.

My earlier post was about denigrating a player who a few months ago was seen as being a success and important to the team but after a few poor games is turned by you and others into a whipping boy when the results last year were the fault of many people.

Be a supporter and support your team and the players. Criticism, yes, but positive offering solutions not destructive, which is all you seem to offer.

I was a little suprised by the annoucement but maybe it was just the bad combination of Willie Poching and Sandercock that have bad defensive results as well as a possibly painful personal injury. (Sorry, couldn't resist the old joke).

The combo with Smith should be different.

It was Poaching and Chester. Sandercock had Chester as his assistant.

My view is that Poaching was assistant to a rookie coach. Putting Poaching with Smith imo will be a whole different kettle of fish.

A coach can only do so much. Poaching may well have been telling players to do one thing but they were doing totally the opposite. Perhaps because they were incapable of implementing his instructions or maybe they weren't mentally resolute enough to defend their line.
