It's now open season for signing players. Who will we be retaining?
Horne - Unless we have a big signing planned for the back row(kirmond) we really need his steadying influence even if he is back up as to me he's been our best forward this year. 2 years
Larroyer - not quite the force he was before last years injury but still having a solid year. 3 years
Cockayne - Think a lot depends on guzdeks progress. Dependable but we have 3 better wingers and he ain't the answer at full back. 0/1 year
Boudebza - a few weeks ago I thought depending on Robinsons progress probably not but now I can't see us not offering him a deal. Needs to run from dummy half more but a great signing. 2 years
Lunt - don't think it's in our hands but in my opinion he would get a 3 year deal. Erratic defensively but a big part of our attack
Salter - has improved this year and quite solid defensively but keeping him could halt Hallets progression. Out
Welham - looks a different player worth another contract. 2 years
Esselmont - CC does not seem to trust him to play anything more then a bit part role would like to see him stay but probably going. Out
Just my opinion but think the earlier we get this stuff sorted we can target the areas we need to reinforce.

I heard a rumour that Boudebza has a clause in his 1 year deal that he has to get an offer if he plays 12 games. I hope this is true.

That 12 game thing is true, I remember reading it in the HDM start of year. Saying that, it's the HDM were talking about here. Can't remember how many games it took to get the offer on the table though.

From what I remember, after 12 games, we have to activate the 2nd year in the clause. Got to say I'm quite impressed with him.

As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear no evil.:

Quote: MagicCarlos "It's now open season for signing players. Who will we be retaining?

If, and its a big IF, we did have a big back row signing planned i'd be inclined to keep Horne and release Larroyer. Horne is just so much more consistent, less injury prone and can be used as cover at Centre, or, in a dire emergency even at hooker. However, seeing as Burke will be returning to Wigan is it not possible to keep both and sign a new back rower?

Quote: MagicCarlos "Cockayne - Think a lot depends on guzdeks progress. Dependable but we have 3 better wingers and he ain't the answer at full back. 0/1 year'"

Release him, loads of effort but error prone, we have enough cover for the positions he can play.

I'd like to see them both retained.

Not sure why he's not playing whilst Goulding is out injured? Maybe an indicator into the managements mindset and opinion of the lad.

I'd be looking at keeping most of them tbh. Dunno what's happening with Lunt and there have been rumours of Kelly going back to the NRL, so we've maybe got some recruitment challenges.
I think some decent foundations have been laid this season and a bit of continuity, where possible, wouldn't go amiss.

Not sure about Lunt but I don't believe Kelly will be going anywhere.
I listened to Jamie Peacock in an interview two or three weeks ago and it seemed getting players signed up on long deals would be one of his main priorities upon arriving at the club, I hope so even though some would say that contracts aren't worth the paper they are written on these days.

If Rugby League Rocks, then Hull KR is its Soul.:

Not sure Esslemont has what it takes to kick on in SL. Salter is also not creative enough for me at centre.

Cockayne has proved his utility value to the team this year and is worth a 12 month contract extension.

Everybody else mentioned should get a 2 year extension deal minimum. I would make Larroyer and Lunt the priority.

Regardless of triggers and clauses, I think Boudebza needs signing on a decent contract, he played very well again tonight

I can't believe how hard this guy tackles given his stature and size!!
Walked past him the other day and he didn't seem much over 5ft.
Great buy, as others have suggested.

einstien said insanity is when a person does the same thing over and over again but expects a different result:

Wigan thought they had found a weakness running at him but he tackles way above his size great game from French John

He's a very brave and very strong man.....35 tackles at half time. Don't know what he ended with. Boudebza can offer a lot more in attack too once he gets the confidence to try things.
Tilse went well. Technically good and intelligent too. Chester has put some fire in Green 's belly and he's better for it.
Played with 15 men for most of the game with Horne injured and Esslemont not used.
Campese is just a class act.
Blair schooled Williams and Sargison all game.
No Kelly Goulding Allgood Walker Lunt Burke last night.
Fabulous effort.
