Connor Lynes is a local lad who plays for Lambwath U14's
He suffered an injury in a game on Saturday but went home as usual after the game, but collapsed the next day and is now in St James Hospital in Leeds due to a blood clot on his brain stem.
He has had a couple of ops and was in a coma but woke up this morning, will update when we get further news
www.hulldailymail.co.uk/8216-Pra ... story.html
Great to see the RL community all coming together for him and his family at this time, all local rivalries put aside. As a local RL coach at the same age group who knows Connor, his family and friends at his club its come very close to the heart for me.
Hope you can all show your support for him at the derby
Thanks

Situations like this really puts things into perspective and like the rest of the Rugby league community i hope he makes a speedy and full recovery.
As always the rugby league community come together in such situations and show just why it is such a great family to be part of.
I'm certain the support for young Connor will be sincere and very vocal come the local derby day at the KC.

Couple of updates from his club secretary and the Hull & District secretary
Quote: "Hello All Secretaries/ Cttee
Steve Ball RFL Benevolent Fund is now handling all enquiries and press releases on my behalf after I was being inundated yesterday from Press and the marvellous rugby/ sports in general fraternity who have easy access to my email and Tel Number.
Steve has asked me to channel all fund raising via himself to show it is being co-ordinated in the correct fashion. So MANY, MANY THANKS TO YOU ALL AT EVERY CLUB. I am not on facebook, just seen a bit on twitter and obviously Hull Daily Mail who tracked down his uncle after Sara unavailable and I was unable to represent the family for obvious reasons.
Sara sent me a text at 4am this morn with the current situation as described in daily mail with a little more on the positives i.e. beginning to stir but I shall try to keep you all in touch should you wish to email me (text going mad so pref email plse) Officially as I say,, Steve Ball RFL Benevolent handling all funding and press enquiries. his email
Quote: "Hi All
I am sure by now you have all heard about the horrific incident involving Connor Lynes from Lambwath Un14’s.
It has now been published in the Hull Daily Mail.
I have been taking advice from the RFL on how to deal with anything pertaining to the incident. If any of you are contacted by the Daily Mail please direct them to myself.
There are collections and fund raising going on to help the family financially with accommodation and travel costs.
Steve Ball from the RFL Benevolent Fund is releasing funds to cover costs as well, and liaising with the family and myself to offer advice and support.
Steve has asked that all funds raised to be sent to the Benevolent Fund were it will be ring fenced for Connor. So if you are aware of people fund raising in your Club please make sure that funds are handed over to yourselves as Secretaries, then to me so I can deposit in the Leagues account and then transfer the funds over to the Benevolent Fund.
Steve said they will carry on supporting the family indefinitely whether it is for a couple of weeks or the rest of his life.
Martin has been in contact daily with updates and have offered my services, especially to talk with the team as my role as League and Regional Welfare Officer.
I have spoken to their opposition Club Secretary, as obviously the lad who made the tackle will be feeling pretty dam awful, after reading the paper, and he will need support as well.
As Connor loves the game so much i thought that if every team from every Club buy a get well card and every team member and staff sign it, it may give him a boost, I’m sure Connor would appreciate knowing that we all care. But you will need to get the message out pretty quick, to get the response
If we can do this and all you Secretaries bring your cards to the Secretaries meeting next Monday evening, I will make sure they all get to him together.
Any questions or advice please get in touch with me.
Carol

| Great work Hutchie, thanks for keeping us all informed. I shall direct my cash towards any collection on Friday instead of wasting it on overpriced Carlsberg.

| Echo everything above. Awful. I'm sure with the club's help, the collections will be well received from everyone @ CP on Fri.
Thoughts and prays for the 'little Robin'.
