Your probably right on the jail thing, but we are concerned about our team and he is the only one who shows any passion about the shirt and should be given the armband.

Give him back the number 1 shirt,at least he jumps for a high ball.

Agree personally dont like the guy , but if all your other players had his passion you would'nt lose the way you have been.

Is he really the kind of guy you want representing the club - is he really the positive life-style image you want to project when trying to recruit young kids to the game in your area.

Add to that the captain should be one of the better players - Cockayne would struggle to get in almost any SL side - he is average at best - a NL1 player if ever there was

Cockayne at least leads by showing passion. Of course Cockayne is not a captain I don't suppose he himself thinks he is.

But Vella has nothing at all in the way of leadership. Which is why he has never been a captain even at junior level until he came to Rovers.

The captain needs to be someone that commands respect and to whom other players will listen. No reason why that can't be someone who wears their heart on their sleeve, but it isn't a prerequisite or even especially desirable, IMO. I prefer cold-blooded to hot-headed.
