A lot of people on here are jumping on the 'Marsh isn't good enough' Band wagon. Do we really think that Marsh is the reason we lost the game against Wakefield.

No one seems to have focused on the real issues. Both Edges looked defensively inept, 1 winger that played offered little going forward at this level and at Championship level was defensively very very weak every time he pulled on the shirt (Definitely not SL Standard) , the other winger actually looks a super league player just needs to gel and build a better partnership with his centre.

The centres were constantly drawn/pulled out of position, that didn't help the wingers in fairness, both are unproven at SL level and although I think they will get up to speed it may take several weeks.

The forward pack is a little lightweight and against a big pack like wakefield it was always going to be tough and some big names were missing so that should improve and we can compete in the middle with a mobile pack.

To summarise, we will get beat on the edges every game unless something changes rapidly, the defensive reads of some of the outside backs are worse than those that you see at under 15's level.

MY POINT.........
Don't blame a defeat on one player who may have had an indifferent game, he is still young and will learn from this. He is a member of our club and deserves the chance to right any wrongs but with the 'wolf pack' on the hunt for a scape goat it may take longer than expected for this team to gel properly. and remember they was several inept performances hence no names have been mentioned. Negatives comments directed at the team will never build a positive atmosphere, its tough but lets try and get behind the boys.

1 last point. Did the pack build a good enough platform for the halves to work from, if not it makes their day doubly difficult....just saying!!!

SUPPORT THE TEAM WHEN WE ARE LOSING.........ENJOY IT WHEN WE ARE WINNING.

Has was said by frankie no body was blaming marsh for losing but it has been said by lots of supporters that he will not make a super league player and maybe Atkins might not has well but with is age he might March is now 23 so he should be better but he is not

How do you become 'A Super League' player without having the necessary game time to develop, the lad has had a few season hampered by injury so his development maybe isn't where it should be but the people that matter clearly see potential.

I could give you a list of players within our squad that I do not believe will be 'super league quality' but at thios moment they are in our squad and we must give them the chance because they are OUR players, they are a couple that I think are far far worse than Marsh but some of our fans are 'blinkered' by the media. Time will tell, but whilst they are here try and give them the backing..... you never know!!!!

I think it would be a lot easier to argue your points if you could say "look at how good marsh was before his injuries", which you can't. I honestly can't recall him bossing a game or taking control. We are not really in a position to have our main pivot be in a learning position thats the problem.

I think you saw more potential and difference with him at fullback, playing as a 3rd pivot. A lot less responsibility and more freedom to run, with good defence.

I've also heard people calling for Marsh to be dropped, the problem we have is that of the players we have available to pick from he is obviously the favored choice by Tim Sheens, also in the build up to the season in every interview he gave Danny McGuire singled Marsh out as a player he rated, so McGuire's influence is a major reason in him starting. Lets hope if he stays fit and gets a run of games then we will see the Marsh that the players and Tim are seeing in Training.

Atkin showed tonight how good he is and has the potential to be very good.Marsh has had few chances with odd glimpse of talent but then stalled by injury.Dont think anyone wants to see Marsh fail but at SL level he is a squad player at best? Even at championship I'm not certain he would command a half's berth in a top 4 side? Personally I thought he looked better at FB but again at SL level would he be first 17? Still time to make it and I hope he does

Having been at tonight's game. I also feel that Atkins showed more than enough promise to be ahead of Marsh in the hb role. I just feel that the few times I've seen Atkins he is just a better player.

Marsh I've always considered would be better in the centres or as a ball playing LF. Where the pressure is off and he can concentrate on his own game more.
I've never thought he's the one to control/build your team around. But he could be good enough in those roles.

I would send him to York on duel-reg if he's not in our 19. He needs games as he's always struck me as a confidence player, and you only get that through playing.

The game is about opinions, especially as fans. Personally I'd much rather have Moss then Quinlin.
Trouble Marsh has is that he's just not good enough to change alot of opinions on him especially because of where he plays.
I do wonder if some of it with regards Marsh is because he came through the Rovers system. And we've let go/lost alot of players, that because he's still here we expect more from him.
He may come good, but apart from a few games I've seen him in, I have my doubts.

Maguire out this week, dagger dropped so the off half position go will no doubt go to matty marsh.I have faith in tim sheens, but if marsh is the 2nd best option to maguire the qualifiers beckon at this early stage.Surely moss, quinlan, dagger would be worth a go,we are already aware of what matty is capable of.

I'd put Quinlin there we've got plenty of cover at full back with Dagger and Moss

Agree 100% mate, atkin paired with moss, quilan or dagger would bring a bit of pace.We can wish all we want, but marsh basically is championship standard at best.

Big onus on the pack to roll over Salford's forwards.Says something when as a fan im not worried about the relative novice Atkin but the doubt is over Marsh? Given decent platform he has the chance to show us what he can do and just hope he does the basics well and grows into the game? Not convinced Sheens will play him but if he does then good luck to the lad
