| I thought the East Stand extension was intrinsicly linked with the NHS development at Craven Park?
rlhttps://hullkr.co.uk/funding-released-for-east-stand-extension-17rl
So, how on earth can the NHS facility now be open for business when we still don't have the stand built?
rlhttps://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/health-MoT-home-Rovers/story-13461644-detail/story.htmlrl
Maybe a question for tonight's forum?

Assume maybe this 'new' centre is a portacabin type and the East Stand project is bigger, better and £££
Quote: SirStan "The centre is part of a larger project to expand the Robins' East Stand to hold an extra 1,250 spectators'"

| The company who are going to build the North stand are also going to be the company building the east stand extension.
If what I've being told is true then the club struggled to get further planning for the east stand due to disability spaces. The extension would have meant the club having to put further disabled spots in due to capacity to disabled ratios. The club tried to get round it by promising to incorporate these in with the north stand which was refused as nothing regards the north stand was confirmed. The club also offered to get some more boxes like we have at ground level along the east stand, This was also refused as fans with a disability have the right to experience the same match day atmosphere as able bodied folk sat/stood in the stands. So it will all be built together.
Certainly a question for tonights fans forum.

Well good. I agree, those sheds that wheelchair users are confined to at the moment look rubbish. I certainly wouldn't choose to sit there.
I'm sure we could incorporate some sort of lift access and then have a concourse area with a few chairs at the back for peoples carers if so required. We might even be able to get some sort of grant to fund it.

Will be difficult for the club to install beer showers and disabled people being threatened by intoxicated fellow "fans" during the fames
Joking apart, those dugout things they have at CP for disabled people are an absolute disgrace. Even worse than the old blue invalid carriages parked behind the sticks at the old place

So, in a nutshell, it was poorly planned then?

When I worked for North Lincs Council we had to adapt buildings for disabled access and one of them was a museum in the grounds of Normanby Hall. After much pressure from the Disabled Rights groups and counter arguments from English Heritage a lift for wheelchairs was installed at great expense to cater for the disabled masses who would love to visit the museum. Two years later I did a condition survey on the property and just asked how often the lift got used and to my suprise the curator said 'its never been used apart from a monthly test'
While its great that disabled people should feel included, I think a bit of common sense should prevail as to the level of facilities that an organisation should provide, perhaps the council could allow 'evidence' as to the likely usage levels to be presented. It seems ridiculous that EVERY new build house must have disabled access and toilets when only a very minor percentage of the population is wheelchair bound.

The disabled issue was resolved when the idea of putting the disabled fans in the first aid section of the East stand was given to the bloke in charge of the signing off the stadium (I can't for the life of me think of his job title).
As for the East stand getting stopped it is because of the possible shortfall that has been discussed previously and the club don't want to commit funds to the East stand if that means it torpedoes the North stand.

| sirstan, Mike Smith told me the NHS health service facility is tempopary until the East St is extended, but at the FForum this evening Hudge said the North Stand takes precedent over the East stand. I spoke to Pease a few weeks back and he said the NHS unit will be housed in the North Stand. Confused? Join the club lol!

| The new North Stand is going to cost £750,000 more than expected unless the re-tendering process results in a lower bid.
Therefore expenditure on the east stand extension is on hold in case it needs to be diverted to the North Stand project. This is what Mr Hudgell means when he says the North Stand takes priority. Also the east stand extension is seen as less important because the east stand was rarely selling out with its existing capacity.
There is a good chance the North Stand will be built without the east stand extension happening for the time being. If so the NHS will be housed in the North stand. Currently the NHS are on the west side of the ground.
Only if the re-tendering process gets the price of the North Stand back down to original amount will the East Stand extension be built at the same time. This seems unlikely.

| The east stand isn't the real priority is it? You don't fill the current stand for every game and I'm sure some who stand in there will migrate to the North when it is built anyway. The North will also give additional income streams for corporate guests as well. I doubt the RFL care that your east stand finishes on teh 20m line at one end but they will care that you only really have 2 stands currently

| Don't know about worrying about planning, it's funding that should be the issue if the rumour about 4 of the 8 shop and stadium staff being made redundant is anything to go by.
