Although I agree I think that'll be a couple of years down the line.
Think Benny Galea would be perfect,a model professional on and off the field, will be our most experienced player, and think he would be honoured to be captain for Rovers in probably his last season.

HULL KINGSTON ROVERS is my religion, Craven Park is my church and Jordan Abdull is my God:

No point in giving Galea it for one season. Dobbo for me

Galea.

Model professional, good clubman and fully deserves the accolade, even if its only for 1 year.

Green will play 80 minutes each week and is signed on for a couple of years so would be my choice. If not then Galea as he's got the respect of the rest of the team.
Dobson's got enough on his plate and should be left to dictate play.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle. Frederick Douglas:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_30596.jpg

Was it the beginning of this year or last when both Vella and Newton were injured and Galea stood in as captain? I think it was this year.

Galea is my favourite player, intelligent, professional, defends well, but I didn't think he did that well as captain.

Fair enough, it was a bad time. Newton and Vella were out, everyone seemed to be out of form, the Mason fiasco was going on, but I didn't think he was very communicative with the other players, particularly when we were behind the sticks after having conceded. Which was a lot of the time.

I've gone for Dobson, although I do take barham red's concerns on board.

Why not?

We can easily pick someone else the year after.

I think the importance of the role is overstated, tbh. Just someone to chat to the ref, IMO. The clapping and shouting under the sticks, in an era of sports science and nutritionists, seems abit anachronistic to me.

But you need someone who, fitness permitting, will be in your starting 13. And who can command a bit of respect amongst his peers. Galea for me, if he wants it.

That's because you're a passionless scientist. A dead fish. A wet flannel. No offence.

Some times, and definitely at times this year, the players need a rocket. However, for me, it's more about having someone at the heart of the game who understands technically what's going on and make the necessary changes. Our defence has required some restructuring at times during games and this hasn't happened. Of course, this is Morgan's job to communicate that but it needs someone on the field to implement it.

I prefer 'quiet achiever'. icon_wink.gif

Fair point, however.

Do technical adjustments require passion though? Are they best delivered by rocket? I do take your earlier point about communication.

Always thought you were on my side and could see that it was thickiness that cost us, not an absence of Churchillan oratory or bulldog spirit.
