| Quote Mild Rover="Mild Rover"Yeah, I've thought Moss has looked pretty classy. I want to see more of him, not less.
With Cockayne, JBF, Oakes and Hodgson in the squad, Shaw will have plenty of competition for his spot. He's done okay so far though and looks more powerful than last year. I'm not accusing the OP of this necessarily, because there is a case for giving Cockayne a run - but over the years the opinion that we must find a place for him in the 17 has been expressed fairly frequently. For his energy, enthusiasm and now experience. Sometimes, including sometimes unfairly IMO, also because whoever is picked ahead of him is poop. Being picked ahead of BC is Rovers most poisoned chalice.'"
I'm not sure about Moss on the wing. For the early part of the season they have looked pretty weak doing the Ugly stuff, unable to break the line on out sets. I am not saying BC has the divine right to play and he is certainly not a long term option, more a club ambassador this year but it may give Shaw/Moss a kick up the to try a little harder. Maybe throw Hodgy in instead of BC, he still has a spark there!!!

| Cockayne stays on the bench as cover for the backs and to spell Lunt. Scruton will probably miss this week due to suspension (when are these announced?). I think there is an arguement to give Oakes a go in front of Shaw who hasn't done a lot wrong but equally doesn't seem to offer as big a threat as he should.
Moss I'm a little underwhelmed with but he has something in his game that when it comes out will be exciting.

| I'm one of those people who thinks players under pressure for their starting spot perform better.
But looking at Sunday's opposition (Sheffield) I see they are playing Dane Chisholm at fullback.
I would hope and expect that this is a call for plenty of high bombs and tall fast wings running at him all afternoon. So that would be Shaw and Moss over Oakes and Cockayne.
Maybe we needed to pick players to meet a paticular challenge over developing a team spirit.

| Shaw the scapegoat this season then! Or maybe Moss! The jury seems to be out at the moment.
Shaw played well last Sunday, was very secure under the high ball. He looks stronger this year and I expect him to see him continue in the starting line-up.
Moss is playing in a position that he admits he is relatively unused to and it will take time for him to fully adapt to it.

We don't want an ambassador on the pitch they should be in the bar meeting and greeting! On the pitch we need the best 17 available that day. Taking into account the opposition and injuries the coach might decide to give one or more of the fridge players some game time.
Ben does not warrant a start in any position as he is not better than any of the starting 13 used so far. His enthusiasm and energy do make him a useful impact player when players are injured.

| If its not broken, don't fix it. . .except for enforced changes re Clark and maybe Scruton if banned.
Looking at the prop situation, the options are Clarkson, Kavanagh, Mulhern and Milton - pity Moran is out on loan.
For me, Milton deserves an opportunity - saw him a few times at Donny, and the other weeks reserve game, he's ready.

| Moss looks a very tidy player playing in a new unfamiliar position. He has done nothing wrong other than being outside of Minns who doesn't pass to him. Wind back a season and Sio's try tally diminished with Minns as his centre. Moss is good under the high ball, is decent defensively and scored a peach of a try against Rochdale. FFS - give him time.
Shaw - steady at best but again good under the high ball. Butler-Fleming and Oakes will be in the CC side and then the League side once Shaw has a mare or we get an injury in the outside backs.
If Horne gets picked, I'll get a muck spreader and soil the CP pitch. Still haven't forgiven him for his MPG indiscretions and probably never will. Milton ahead of him any day of the week for me.
Despite early stage execution issues, I am a big admirer of Abdull and Ellis in the halves and Quinlan at FB. The current centres are class players and the front row is a major upgrade so far over last year.

| Assuming Scruton and Clark are missing then the only changes I would make would be to bring in Milton and Horne. We lose some grunt up front but I don't see what other option we have at the minute. Start Kavanagh and Clarkson, bring Mulhurn and Milton off the bench in the front row.
Really not seeing any reason to drop either of our wingers. Moss is a match winner whilst Shaw has done nothing wrong and is still playing his way back from a major injury. As the season progresses Oakes will put them under massive pressure, he is special, but I don't think that Sheens is over keen to blood youngsters at the minute. Butler-Fleming we know absolutely nothing about to be honest so until we see him in action for the reserves I will reserve judgement.

Moss isn't a bad player. In fact most of the team are going well. Moss just looks indecisive at times. That might not be just down to him switching roles. I'm all for giving him a bit more time.
My only slight concern is the halves although neither have done anything drastically wrong, we could do with one of them having more experience in certain situations.
It's working at the moment though so can't see any real need for changes unless forced by injury. Some positions may need stengthening though as the season goes on if gradual improvements aren't made if we want to get back to SL on the first chance. In four more matches a third of the season will have gone, improvements need to be evident (even if only slight) by then.

The only negative I've got about Abdul and Ellis is there kicking games haven't been great

| A sensible lot of responses for me.
The Bratfud fans thought Moss a fantastic player. He looks class and can score from anywhere. He was always looking for work Sunday just got no service.
Shame that the one weak point of Minns' game is he doesn't pass. Moss did his nut at him first half for not passing to him on that long break he made. If Minns learns to pass he could be a top quality centre.
I wouldn't drop Moss with service or moved to full back he'll run riot. Shaw hasn't done anything wrong. Oakes needs looking after. Bring him in now and again. Butler Fleming I'm guessing can play or Sheens wouldn't have brought him over.
If Clark and Scruton are out shows how light we are for front rows with the back up options. All but one a little on the light side...again.
The rest pick themselves on performances so far.
Horne and the bigot back up squad players for me.
