| Ultimately the right call from Rovers not to retain as he's crap, but it does sound like Larroyer knew that relegation meant his remaining 2 year contact was null & void and sought assurances from the club as to his future, which according to him was given:
"I was asking people at the club whether I still had a future there. I was told I definitely did, so wasn't worried. I then had a later meeting and was told there was no space for me. I feel like, at some stage, they haven't been really honest with me."
There's always two sides to every story, but doesn't look great, especially after the bleating Hudgell did about loyalty when Adam Walker left. Loyalty only works one way of course.

Plus possibly some of the younger lads in the squad I think the club were justified in letting Larroyer go the way he was playing over the past couple is seasons.
I have stated I don't think the way he was being told to play helped him,but then that is only my opinion'"
So taking all this into consideration, do we need a half fit player who didn't have a particularly good 2016 season taking up very much needed salary cap, or are we showing unfair loyalty to a "local lad" over an overseas player ?
for what it's worth, I think both should have been released

If Rugby League Rocks, then Hull KR is its Soul.: |

| Quote: BiltonRobin "The HDM reports today that Horne is not taking part in full training due to his ongoing back problems.
He will be reassessed in the new year. This is 1 month before the start of the season. so will not be match fit for some time.
Does this makes the Larroyer decision a little more strange?'"
I think there is consensus on here that letting Larroyer go was the right decision, BR, due to his consistently sub par on field performances during the last 2 seasons. Perhaps the manner in which it was done by the club was questionable, especially from a communication standpoint.
That brings me nicely on to Graeme Horne. Would that be the same ongoing back problems that flared up when he missed those 2 vital tackles at the end of the MPG? If you listen to Jamie Peacock being interviewed today on Hull KR.TV, he twice refers to the fact that we were 2 missed tackles away from staying in Super League - a statement I agree 100% with.
I apologise in advance to Graeme Horne and any of his admirers for this seemingly matter of fact statement, but perversely it would do the club an immense favour if Horne was to succumb to this recurring back injury and retire from the game.
To me, his performances and contributions over the last 2 seasons have been just marginally better than Larroyer's, therefore undeserving of another 12 month contract imo. Perhaps Horne has already received the JP tap on the shoulder, my office in 10 minutes signal. In which case, the HDM article extract is marketing spin for the inevitable.

You've missed off Lawler from your list. I can see Jubb and Moran having more game time this season as well, possibly Cator. I also expect us to sign another forward, most likely a big prop. It's hard to see where Horne would get a game anyway, unless we pencil him in as reserve centre.
In the event of that unthinkable scenario, we could kiss goodbye to any promotion hopes.

I think with Horne having recently signed a Championship contract with us and him playing a part in pre-season training already, means he is in the coach's plans.
I read the mini-press release and took away that he was training, but due to his back condition he was not in "full" training yet. This might explain why it was a paragraph below a story, as it hardly seems newsworthy.
