And the team relegated effectively 'lose their jobs' as Cockayne puts it. Sugar coat it all you like, but any promotion and relegation system results in one teams players being at risk, and the reason that they are is that they haven't been good enough. Simple |

Leigh’s average attendance in 2016 - 4260 (Obviously going to increase to to SL status), highest 10,556
Salford average attendance in 2016 - 3193 (Down from 4106 in 2015), highest 5089
Hull KR average attendance in 2016 - 7684, highest 11,050
Now, I'm not exactly a maths professor, but these figures show it's more than just a 'hypothetical guess', as you put it. |

Agree,they should have got the shield,I bet hull at 20s to win the regular season and got paid out,but we are talking about the RFL so anything possible.  |

So will it be higher or lower than 7684 avg for Leigh? Like i say,we won't know until the end of next season. To suggest otherwise is an hypothetical guess. |

I'm not disagreeing with you on that. I would have no problem with top goes up and bottom goes down. I can also see the merits of the current system, in that it tries to make sure that a club promoted are ready for SL, which I think Leigh now are, but maybe wouldn't have been if they had gone up last season. We will never know whether they would have been ready this season or not though, thats just me speculating. My post was more frustration at Cockayne making it sound that players were hard done by if they get relegated. He does have valid points, but I don't see why sportsmen/women should be immune to the 'real world'. That was more the point I was trying to get across. |
