Quote: Beverley red "Best was the first top act I saw. 15 years old just started work & a collegue was lead singer in a locall band, got asked to help with thier gear as it had to be lugged to the top of the Co Op in town (Skyline ballroom) Top act Jimi Hendrix, even met him after the show & got his autograph, Wish I could find it now. I dont recall but I would ave seen robert Plamer as well that night (with the mandrakes).
Worst Billy J Kramer at a do in Walkington he was awfull but saw him a a show thirty years later & he had learned a bit by then & was great.'"
That place brings back some memories though it was called Baileys and then Romeos by the time I was frequenting them almost every weekend.
They actually had some decent well known bands on in there during the seventies and early eighties.
I also remember seeing the glitter band, haha, perform at another well know disco in Hull at the time..... Tiffany's, later known as LA.
Best bands on my travels would have to be... The Sweet, Queen, and Slade, all during the seventies and eighties, the former almost deafening me with their loud music, Slade have to be one of the loudest bands I've personally ever listened to live.
I cant really think of a bad one, unless I include one or two lesser known bands that sometimes played in East park during the festivals they had a few years back.
One of my regrets in life is not seeing Bowie live, during the time he played with Hulls brilliant guitarist ...Mick Ronson (spiders from Mars) even though I was still a teenager at the time, Good days.
