Quote: roopy "As I said about Campese even before you guys were looking at him, being on the outer with Ricky Stuart says a lot more about Stuart than Campese. Stuart has dropped a lot of quality players to reserve grade for reasons that only he understands, and he has a collection of wooden spoons to show for it.
Canberra would have done far better if they had stuck with Dunneman, who was proving to be a quality coach in the Canberra lower grades, but they paid big money for Stuart, so he could rip the heart out of yet another club, by doing things like putting a 500k a year player and club legend in reserve grade and telling him he isn't wanted at the club.'"
Sticky absolutely did the right thing. I'm not sure how many other coaches would have done it. He gave Campo more than enough time to prove himself in the NRL again (too much time in the mind's of most Raiders' fans).
Campo was great for the second halves of 2008 and 2010. We gave him nearly another 4 whole years with no return. That is a looong time. He was once my favourite player. His passion for the club and his leadership was greatly appreciated. It was definitely time to move on and we are definitely better off for it.
