Sustained investment and building up an infrastructure is the way to go if you have sufficient funds. The draw of the NRL has been a game changer though, and I'm not sure we'll see teams stick together around core of experienced homegrown players for year after year (like Leeds of recent seasons). The more rapid evolutions in playing roster, with continuity of culture, seen at Wigan this decade is a more likely model.
There's always a slim chance of things falling just right in the cup. But our chances (and those of the other clubs not regularly winning silverware) of breaking the glass ceiling and the hegemony of the teams that have dominated the SL era seem remote still. Just the way it is and there's plenty to enjoy in competing in SL even when you're not one of the teams competing for the title.
