| Quote: Beverley Robin "Unproven head coach given a 3 year deal? Bonkers. Haven't seen anything yet on the pitch to suggest he's worth that. In fact I feel we've gone backwards since sandy left. Feel a bit sorry for sandercock really, only getting those 1 year contracts and having to work with that extra pressure. I'll get behind him now that the appointment has been made but I'm sceptical to say the least.'"
I believe Sandy started with a two year contract and then had it extended by one year. I agree three years does seem a long time for a first time head coach. To call it bonkers is a bit strong however. In what way have we gone backwards since Sandy left? Now is the time to give Chester our full support not use his appointment as an excuse to push Sandy's cause. Whatever you think, that time has gone and we need to look forward to the new era. Even when you you say you will get behind Chester you qualify your support with a negative. Approaching things in a negative way never brings success and only tends to bring about the result you anticipate. Let's hope the people inside the club do not have your negative attitude.

As for due process our chairman owns the club & bankrolls it he can apoint his grany if he wants. He obviously thinks he deserves a chance & my point is that he has come through the ranks at one of the best run clubs in the world (Wigan) wether he is up to it is to be seen but I will go with the clubs call untill proved diferent.'"
Well said, when people on hear are saying he has not done very well in the short time he has had since he took over, give him a chance Rome was not built in a day wait till next season when he has had pre season training then lets see what he can do

| Hopefully things will start off better next year when Chester has the back line players in place who can defend and not make mistakes. I think 3 years is far too long for an inexperienced coach . Fortunately NH is too shrewd a business man to employ his granny , the club belongs to the fans at the end of the day and will be still in existence for years to come.

| Do we know who his No2 will be? I would offer it to Stanley, who has done a decent job at Gateshead coping extremely well with the complexities of being a feeder club and dual registrations coupled with his other duties at Rovers. He has worked wonders with Beharrel and a few others, and I have to say this, Stan seems destined to be part of Rovers future.
Perhaps there is a strong case to promote Pete Grayburn, who is doing a sterling job with the u19s in what is a very strong competition. The club might not want to lose him in that area though, it is imperative Rovers u19s start to compete regularly in the play-offs and Pete has just about secured that aim, so continuity might be a stumbling block.
I wouldn't want Shaun Briscoe of Dave Hodgson to be leapfrogged into the role although they do have the qualities and experience to take on the role. I would prefer a seamless move, a pathway from boot room to head coach (Alah Liverpool with Shanks, Paisley et al), and Stan fits that profile.

I've read rumours that Willie Poaching may be heading our way as No.2

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.
