Neil Hudgell can seem a bit downbeat [iat times[/i. In many ways I don't/can't blame him.

While it shouldn't matter, it kinda does, as you say. I tried very hard to not be too down on Sandercock for his tendency to miserabilism (in the press), and try to judge him on results, but did feel the slightly resigned and world-weary niche was already filled.
