Quote: EL CAMO "I understand what you're saying about home-grown players staying younger in fans' minds (and I didn't actually know Green was older than the Walkers) but I don't think that this detracts from Green's potential. Regardless of the fact that the Walker boys are also very good prospects/players, there is room for all 3 to grow into exceptional prop forwards. There is still a great deal of development in most props up to at least 25 so they are all still in the infancy of their SL careers, Green more so than the Walkers.
I think one of the big issues for Cox is that he doesn't really have a nailed on position. Is he strictly an impact player? If so is that an impact prop or an impact back rower? This possibly isn't his fault, having been moved around a bit in the role that he plays, but I don't feel that he has really shown enough in any position to be holding Rovers to ransom over his new deal.'"
I agree with you on both points.
I think both Langley and Costigan look like tough, roll their sleeves up loose forwards. We're pretty well off for props - especially now Green is starting to look the part. So I'd like Cox to look like a second-rower - but I actually think he looks potentially better down the middle now he's filling out.
If we keep one of Green/Cox and can nab somebody from another squad who looks like a natural left side second row, that'd possibly be decent business. I'd keep both a bit longer for preference, but for squad balance I think this could be spun as an opportunity, if it is already out of our hands.
