With the Play-Offs fast approaching giantsrl.com take a look at the four week structure that will pave the way for two teams to battle it out in the Grand Final at Old Trafford, Manchester.
Week One - 12th/13th/14th September:
The run-in to Old Trafford starts on Thursday 12th September (8pm) where one of four matches will take place, before the second on Friday 13th September (8pm) and a double header on Saturday 14th September (3pm and 5pm) rounds of the four fixtures.
The league leaders will take on the fourth placed side while second will lock horns with third. The winners of both these games will go straight to week three and the highest-placed winner will utilise the ‘clubcall’ system, where they can select their opponents in the Semi-Final.
The other two matches in the first week are titled ‘Elimination Play-Offs’ where the losers are eliminated. The teams finishing between fifth and eighth will be involved and will see the fifth placed team take on eighth and the team finishing in 6th place will clash with 7th-placed. The winners will go to week two and will face up against the losers of the 1st v 4th and 2nd v 3rd games.
Week Two – 19th/20th September:
The second weekend involves two matches, called the preliminary Semi-Finals, which are straight knock-out games. One fixture will be played on Thursday 19th September (8pm) and one on Friday 20th September (8pm).
The highest placed loser from the 1st v 4th and 2nd v 3rd from the previous week will face up against the lowest ranked winner (the team finishing in 6th, 7th or 8th place). The winners will go into week 3.
The other match will feature the lowest ranked loser (2nd, 3rd or 4th placed team) from the first week against the highest placed winner from the ‘Elimination Play-Off’ in the first week. The losers are out, the winners through to week three.
Week Three – 26th/27th September:
Like Week Two, this round is an elimination round and is titled ‘Qualifying Semi-Finals’ with the fixtures taking place on Thursday 26th September (8pm) and Friday 27th September (8pm). The winners will go and contest in the Grand Final at Old Trafford and the matches will take the following format:
Highest ranked winner from Week One v Clubcall selected club
Second ranked winner from Week One v Club not selected for Clubcall.
Week Four 5th October:
The Super League Grand Final will take place at Old Trafford, Manchester.
The game to decide the Super League Champions will take place on Saturday 5th October with a 6pm kick-off.
