Hi guys. Was thinking the other day that it's now more than seven years since East Hull Red and myself worked with Retro Rugby to do the 1986 Hanson White retro shirt, and browsing that popular auction site has given me a new idea - out of the five or six independent retros that have been produced since '06 the one I've not seen (which I think was a great shirt for it's time) was the 89-91 Matchwinner / Riding Bitter white with red band cotton home shirt (worn around the start of NCP). It's probably a very long shot, but if Matchwinner could be persuaded to re-produce this, what are people's thoughts? E.g. did you like the shirt, would you but a good quality repro etc?
Please tell me if you think its a bad idea, just a shirt I've always quite liked personally (along with the away one which was identical but a blue band instead of red).
I literally throw out my old shirts. Would I want to buy an old shirt? No. I find myself asking "who would buy one?" Possibly, someone trying to look like they'd followed Rovers longer than they had.
I'm Edith, I'm 29 and have been following Hull KR all my life, I've got an adult sized shirt from 1980, I wasn't even born but I was there.

Bit harsh. IMO retro shirts are partly about people harmlessly reliving their youth. Most people's 25 year old originals are now probably faded etc, and if you buy one off an auction site you know its going to be the same, so a repro is (in my view) a good alternative if done well. FWIW I never saw any negative feedback from anyone who bought the Hansen White one.
Each to their own Edith, but on the whole I think retro repros are a good thing, and the fact our neighbours always sell out of theirs shows that a lot of RL fans like them.

If the club made one, I'd be more inclined to buy it. However, were talking a 3rd party benefitting from my love of HKR. It's a bit like buying fake polo shirts from Turkey.
I have just emptied my loft and found an original one, home and away but i am donating all my old shirts to The Stan Foundation. I think you would get some takers though for a retro shirt. There where plenty of Retro shirts at Wembley especially at the wigan end. When did Norweb last sponsor Wigan????
