What's everyone think.
For me it didn't work.
Very little sense of anything going on in the city centre, awful area around the ground and too long between games so I only went for ours.
Last year in Cardiff, we attended five of the seven games, this year, one. Partly due to the fact I only live forty minutes away by train so everyone stayed at mine. But because of the large amount of time between games if it had been Cardiff we'd have definitely gone for the Cas/Wakey game and probably caught the second half of the Chemics/Wire game.
At around thirty thousand attending on Saturday that's only around the same as Cardiff. Murrayfield was also better.
I still really like the concept, I just think it's better on the road and making a full weekend of it.
Mitigating factor in that is that I'm currently in a position to be able to afford that and at the present moment I know an awful lot of people aren't.
I did meet a lovely bloke on the train home called Paul who's a fireman, that was a positive!'"
If I'm being honest (and selfish) I would rate it behind Cardiff but in front of Murrayfield. As a venue, I think its perfect for the event, the stadium is brilliant and about the right size for where it's currently at. However, my previous Magic weekends were basically on the lash with a bit of RL thrown in, this one was purely the games this time.
What was Manchester like in the evening? Was there a particular area where the stay-over fans headed to, or were they all over town (like Edinburgh)? If it was the latter, then I would probably chose to travel home and only make a day trip again next time around. Maybe they could alternate one year in Cardiff, one year in Manchester?
The weather helped.
