| Looking at clips of Rovers recent signings (I know they mostly show the flashy stuff), then reading that Craig Sandercock is concentrating on defence, it got me wondering what sort of team are Rovers building for next season?
A mean defensive side?....no one seems to be an out and out tackling machine
A team of off-loading forwards?....to run the opposition ragged so the backs can work their magic.
or
A well balanced side that will be frugal when giving points away yet armed with skilled ball handlers?
I am hoping for the latter
Any of the oracles out there have any thoughts?

| Quote: Paul T - HKR "M62Robin, it seems your Q has been derailed by the ‘oracles’ you so much wanted to engage with.
How on earth it has bottomed with the usual rant about Rovers overseas contingent, a far cry from the pink track suits and skyscraper Lego (which now seem sensible!), is beyond me. Perhaps such preambles sum up the frustration of pre-season doldrums. Mind you, it often gets worse than this!
So, with all that’s gone before I will try and get this back on track (suit)!
I too have been looking at the squad and see something we haven’t had in the SL era;
more off-loading players – Paea, Mika, O’Hara, Withers, Horne and McDonnell. This to me is significant; these players will compliment the likes of Galea, Watts and Wheeldon who are also attack-orientated.
To me this all suggests Sandercock will be playing a very expansive game.'"
Good post. Lets use this to relaunch the the thread. If you want to do the overseas players thing over again, start a new thread. Anything along those lines in this one will be binned.

| Whilst Rovers fans have got they feet on the floor and will not be carried away with any speculation coming from players new or existing regarding the clubs prospects for next season, the fact is that the 2012 forwards are younger, more powerful and agile then those of the 2011 squad, on top of that the 2012 backs have had soon quality additions added and given a 50/50 bounce of the ball, luck in the injury stakes, more consistant displays and a tighter defensive unit. The 2012 Robins will cause a lot of problems for a good number of teams in the season. I am not saying we will win the Grand Final, but as Leeds proved last season, once momentum takes over anything is possible

| New coach & a load of new players...bit difficult to make a judgement until we've seen 'em play.
At face value a lot of our signings appear to be sideways, but too many of the departed players weren't at the top of their game for the last season or two, so I think in real terms we'll be slightly better off. We certainly look to have more depth.
I'm not expecting great things next season, just hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

| its hard to say how next season will go at this stage, a new coach whose only made 2 signings, (the rest were done before he got the job) and they only played a handfull of games between them, He talks a good game though, tightening the defence and been more consistent sounds good to me. im hoping the players gel quickly and we can hit the play offs again. its all exciting at the minute.

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.
