It depends on the surgeon.
I can't totally be sure as mine was on the NHS but from what I understand it all depends on Swelling.
It is a long and painful road back as you well know Karl.
I remember after I had my right knee reconstructed.
First time I went to the physio post opp he had me on a exercise bike.
When he first said 'Get on the bike' I honestly thought he was winding me up as I couldn't walk at the time.
I had to grit me teeth that much I thought I was going to need to visit the dentist.
I have had no problems since as thankfully I was under Mr Cain who now only deals with private patients apparently and who was once called 'God of knees' by a physio.
If you are going to have surgury have it done by the best is the way to go.
