| Phew! I could never rest with my bet on Wigan -6.5. Was never the cakewalk I expected it to be.
That's payback for Rovers blowing it at Salford the one time I bet on to win this season

| It was Wigan were better in key areas at key times.
Our completion rate was no where near as good as it was against Leeds, If it had of been it would have been a very tight squeak scorewise.

| was a fairly good game, although a little dissapointed we lost .
we lost due to unforced errors and silly penalties again, but it was still a much improved performance on some of the earlier games.
.
trouble amongst the wigan fans in the northstand....
smoke billowing from the stand....fire or firecracker.... but 20/30 stewards went in to sort it.... other than that it was a very good turn out from wigan for a fri night fixture so far from home.

Flares and smoke bombs are all the rage amoungst the 'ultras' - that and big flags!
Good Turnout none the less, better than the latics have ever produced!

| Bit disappointing really, too many bad/basic errors stopped us from getting a proper foothold in the game right from the start. Wigan were far from great tonight but you always got the impression they were in control once they got 10pts up. Two ridiculously easy/bad tries from our point of view from acting half cost us.
We're getting there, but again at times we're making it too easy for the opposition.
Don't think uncle Albert gave us the rub of the green this week

we lost because we could not control our errors, yes there were some poor calls from him that stopped our momentum and handed Wigan advantage, one which was a certain try for us, but if you cannot filed kicks when NOT under any pressure you cannot expect to win.
You know when you play Wigan they will lay on, interfere in the tackle and PTB and be offside at every set, if the ref does nothing about it you need to get clever and do the same.

| Rovers made quite a lot of unforced errors and conceded 2 very soft and easily preventable tries.
That is disappointing because Wigan tonight were not nearly as fluent on attack as we have become accustomed to. Sam Tomkins was largely subdued his most noteworthy contributions were kicking for field position and really this game was winnable. I didn't expect it to be but it was.
Rovers mistakes were important but even so the matchwinner was Wigan's defence or at least Rovers inability to really test it.
Several players who shone last week found the Wigan defence too tough e.g. Vella, Green, Welham, Murrell.
We got next to nothing from our half backs and our kicking game was poor.
But for all that Rovers put a lot into the game, made Wigan work really hard and just needed a bit of guile that Michael Dobson would probably have given.
Wigan will probably improve as the season progresses and they need to. I now see how Hull pushed them close, Wigan are nowhere near as good as last year......yet.
Willie Mason had his best game since his adrenaline fuelled debut. He ran in very hard from the off but I think Morgan needs to think again. about how to utilise him. Running in full pelt at a 4 or 5 man brick wall, I expect Mason will be as good as anyone at this but it's still a brick wall.
But his try was a reminder of what he has to offer. You don't often see a player set up his own try but when Mason rampaged forward, got a penalty for preventing a quick play the ball and then was the first on hand to crash through at the next play the ball......quality.
So plenty of positives and at least we now have a run of winnable fixtures against bottom half teams.
