I really didn't think much of him on Friday. I admit he does lead from the front most of the time, but he lays on for too long in tackles and gives silly penalties away, too many for a captain.

i'm sure he only gave one penalty away, as for the laying on, you really have'nt been watching rugby that long if you need to know the reason why teams lay on at the play of the ball.

To be fair i dont think he had a great game either, wouldnt of said he had a poor game either though.
And he was great last week.

I've never seen Vella have a poor game and think he's been a great and hugely influential player for you. Don't know what people want from a 32 year old stalwart of Rovers pack who gives 100% and seems to be like the glue that holds it all together. The only downside from what I can see is he does niggle at the PTB but generally gets away with it effectively so good luck to him.
