we're in the play offs and it's great, no one really expected us to win at Leeds so it's not the end of the world. We might not even win next week, it might prove that the play offs have been a bridge too far for us this season.

The top and bottom of it all though, is that we're in the play offs and we've had a great season, and the journey continues for another week at least.

i just thought it would be interesting to revisit some of the points made after last nights proof/pudding scenario,

Dobson was anonymous bar a long kicking game, 1 try to 8 shows the attacking play he was capable of organising, best half back on show last night? he wasnt even the best half back in your team,

last night showed the difference in quality between us and you, it also showed the massive difference between playoff football and the league, exactly as i said it would

we will need to be better than we were last night to win the GF, and you couldnt get close to competing with that, few teams win a play off game at their first attempt, even fewer beat the champions and even fewer get to the GF, and this Hull KR side isnt good enough to do it either, they are three years away and five players away from being in a position to realistically challenge

But Dobson has still been the best SH in SL in 2009 which was the original point you contested

no, he hasnt, the year/season isnt over yet i think you will find, and now, when the games really matter, he has fallen massively short

being the form SH for part of the season isnt really a good acheivement if you get shown up when it matters Dobson is slightly better than average, thats it

his kicking game behind a workmanlike pack has made your team more consistant than average, thats it, its nothing to shout about

Broughs better than Dobson!

Broughy almost caught Dobson on the Goldthorpe medal table even though he missed the first half dozen games of the season.

8 tries to one says im right,

we completely dominated you, the scoreline at half time flattered you and then we took you to peices, you didnt have the quality to match us, or the experience to close it down or at any stage change the flow through quality

your best spell in the game came from an incident of suspected eye gouging that riled the leeds players for ten minutes and got you a penalty where you scored your one solitary try,

you comfortably won the penalty count yet barely had any field position, and you were penned in your half for long periods relying on dobson hoofing the ball down field for any field position at all,

Dobson did and showed nothing yesterday, he created nothing, and will have nothing to show for his season come the end of it

If you are this 'gracious' in victory, i'd hate to see you in defeat. But you'd just into hiding again I suspect. Your team is excellent and dominated ours yesterday. If you'd been on our board all year, eating the humble pie you have earned, I'd let the above pass, but I guess you've been busy with other things until now, eh?

Not sure if Dobson is the best SH in SL but he and Cooke are the major reasons why Rovers have finished in their highest league position in the comp. They are both good halves and if you add in the fact that Dobson has played in every game this season then his value to the team certainly increases. Infact Morgan has only used 3 players in total in the halves this year, and out of the 31 games played Cooke and Dobson have been the half back pairing in 24 of them. If good halves like Dobson and Cooke can play that number of games together the team settles into a good game plan and structure consistently which is vital. If not the best then these two have certainly been very influential for their team.
