Hope patch 4 doesn't delete patch 3 games, got a good one going with Celtic

Erm, damn, it actually does delete patch 3 games! Will have to be someone else such as Cas or Salford and make England world class.

It was all resolved with Patch 4, thanks for the help anyway guys.

Still a bit tad unrealistic, I managed to get Sam Obst and Shane Elford at Leigh in my first season in the Championship.

Not that I'm complaining

I like Patch 4, but have hit a problem during the World Cup at the end of my third season. I get to the semi-final stage and win that game, then as I press "done" after the match report, it CTDs. I've loaded it up from different save games, and tried changing things around, but there seems no way past this crash. Which is sad, as my production line of world class english players was just grinding into action.

With Celtic, I've won the CC in 2nd season, SL and CC in 3rd season and in begining of 4th got battered by GCT in the WCC

Got a WC Welshie and another one coming through the Aliance, shame they are both SRs. Still can't get past the groups in the WC though

I finally won the world cup - thanks to Alex letting me know what the problem was with players going to Oz on loan.

The one remaining issue I have for Patch 5 or the next version is this :

There's still clearly a limit on the number of stars and qualities which a club can have. So if I'm promoting a world class player I've nurtured through the alliance, but I already have plenty of internationals with quality, then that world class player will not get any qualities or stars. This can then lead to odd situations, like I have two international gold star players who have better attributes than two world class players without qualities in the same positions.

In previous versions, I'd loan out all my star/quality players while I promoted from the alliance. Fiddly, but effective, and I could usually get myself a whole team of gold stars after a few seasons. This time round that cunning trick doesn't appear to work. So if I want world class players who can compete with the Aussies, they need a star. If I want a star, then I need to offload an international class player with a star. Yetas international class players with stars are quite capable of hitting top attribute ceilings in their positions, I'm basically selling a dead cert top player for a possible/maybe top player (there's no guarantee of stars anyway).

Perhaps the answer is to have attributes and stars limited within each class, rather than across the club, so you can have 2 x gold star, 4xsilver star and 8x each of the qualities in each class of player.

Just a thought. Still a great game, and I actually cheered to myself when I won the world cup with England at last. Yes, I am that sad.

Thanks for the hints as well, but if you just get a lot of players with around 98 stats, then I'm guessing if they are a star or not, they will still play extremely well.

You probably spent WAY too much money. It's no joke. You can't go over the 2m limit or you're bound to get sacked.

As for me, at the moment I've been on my Sheffield Eagles season. I took them too the Super League in my first season, also winning the NRC and finishing runner-up to Wigan in the CC (how ironic would it be if I'd have won?). Season two was very successful; I won Super League and the Challenge Cup and the team has reached International calibre, thanks to such aquisitions as Motu Tony, James McManus, Dallas Johnson, Neville Costigan, and a few more, along with a few developed Alliance players.

Beginning of season three now; going for everything again. As well as the WCC.

June or July is when I consider getting some players in so we peak come the business time of the season and what players will be leaving
