| Barrow RL, CAN GO IT ALONE.
Everything both on & off the pitch is on the up and has increased every year in the last four years and is expected to increase again next season.
Look at the Barrow born players currently playing SL
1,Gardner
2,Gardner
3,Lupton
4,Harrison
5,Wilkes
Several Barrow born u18/u16 players are earning rave reviews in various SL academy sides.
Add to the mix ((if)) Barrow RL were in the SL then several of the Cumbrian West coast lads would probably rather play for Barrow SL Club than the others, not all and maybe not the most but some.
If Barrow were really competing in the SL then probably most would want to stay local-ish.
BARROW RUGBY LEAGUE for SUPERLEAGUE.

| Not unique for any rugby league area - Yes they looked like they are born in Barrow as Rob Burrow and Joe Westerman were born and bred in Feth - with the excpetion of Ade Gardner you did nothing to develop them of provide them with an opportunity! yep nothing - Barra's claim to fame: as with Stan Laural and Emliy Hughes they were born there (or there abouts)
Think about what a Successful Organisation requires or just a successful team on the park at the moment while supported by a wealthy benefactor?
I would say 100k invested in youth alone and that’s above all your other outlays

There's not enough decent night clubs in Barra / Cumbria for s/l.
The bright lights of Leeds, Liverpool & Manchester win every time for these young lads.

| If you look at the squad we have at the moment, including injured players. Our team is strong enough for Super League, now. We are currently top of the league, and are placed as the best side outside the top flight. Ok our squad is garaunteed to be cut down next season, but all the teams will be forced to make reductions. The amount of quality local talent in our first team and within the reserve teams and younger is fantastic, there is no reason why we cant continue to produce the liam harrisons and liam finches of the area. With the right support and sustained funding, there is no reason that Barrow cant be a super league side withing the coming years.

Get your facts right before you start spouting off.
Ade Gardner, Matt Gardner and Ollie Wilkes all played for Barrow RL academy.
Entry into SL by default gives you the opportunity to invest in a youth set-up. Setting up a SL style youth set-up at Championship level would be financial suicide and a waste of money because all the youth players would be snapped up by SL clubs.

I think that if we get a 'tick' in the box by reaching the GF, then announcements will be made regarding Craven Park re-development.
Pointless to go public about applying for a SL license before you can actually eligible to apply for one.
Watch this space.

They were indeed. The club 'stopped it' to put more money into the first team.
It has worked.
even if it had still been going, those players mentioned would still have gone to the clubs they are at now. They can offer a SL set-up and more money. This was my point earlier.

| What constitutes producing players in your opinion SRC?
I think its great that Fax are running an excellent scholarship and next year will run both reserves and academy. Widnes is already doing this and has a number of internationals on their scholarship and academy! Widnes has taken up an offer by the RFL to join ‘the trailblazers’ with their scholarship playing U15 & U16 in (like their academy) an elite competition against Wigan, Saints etc. Neither one of them could make super league at the next franchise, still a wise and sincere investment to both the areas and the game as a whole. From a reliable source out of RFL, Widnes has one of the best systems investing sport science support from a top university in to their young kids, and may not make super league. Yet Barra’ do completely the opposite and convince yourself you will do this?
Something else – Celtic have become an embarrassment to our sport and the RFL, as they flounder but will survive because of the support from RFL and their extremely hard working and talented staff, represent a maker in failure because of the lack of such infrastructure and will influence the next licensing bid from clubs such as Barra’. Basically if you NOT doing the lot, you not going to get in super league off the back of a promise and nice looking presentation of the business structure.
I believe you will win the grand final, but please don’t let it paper over the cracks in your plight’. The sacking, employing and re-sacking of the coaches says a lot about your big time Charlie of a chairmen, who will eventually run out money in his own personally needs for attention. It’s nice your profile has been raised and welcome back from all your suffering but success is about continuity and consistency over many years. Hull KR did it, but since then licensing has set the bar very high in terms of criteria.
There is no doubt SRC you have a dream but don’t insult our intelligence as foundations are always built first or maybe not when you build a ship, as this is your legacy and ultimately will be your undoing.
Enjoy winning the GF and we will enjoy reading your dreams

| We're not sorry for building a very competitive side before we restructure the non playing side of things.
As our crowds have grown steadily so have our income streams
Hopefully we will begin our restructuring in the close season.

| Like I said - I hope so, for your sake or you will be bitterly disappointed when they so no. It was I who stated ‘nothing unique’ as I was referring to the fact your club doesn’t produce super league players, however you area does! Rember the questions – what constitutes producing players?
Shame about tonight I really hoped you could have bagged it! Why on earth have the made themselves look complete hypocrites by reinstalling former wanna bees and how much of a mug are they for taking the job back on!? All the same Good luck Thursday – what’s your form like at the valley of death?

Your post sums up exactly what is going wrong at Barrow.
Your ( Des's) money can buy players but cannot buy a team nor success.
Teams need to be built up over a couple of years.
Des has fooled you all in beliveing that you can have instant success less than 10 months after gaining promotion, with all the talk of League leaders, Gf and SL etce etc.
You have had a great seasons, but the team spirit and belief fromall connected at the clib must have suffered a massive dent in th last few days, culminating in last nights result.
The playoffs I fear are going to be tough for you.
And before the usual culprits throw accistaions of jealousy, nothing of th sort.
You are rightly placed at the top for now, my team had no aspirations to finish anywahere near where we have so far. Anything from now for us is a bonus.
Finally I cannot understand why the Barrow fans are not up in arms with how Des ( not the BOD) have acted in the last few days.
How the hell are you going to attract the next coach???
make no mistake if you do get Karl Harrison, Des and him will be on collision course from day 1.
Goodluck for the rest of the season.
