Old Man Ale 4.2% and Blacksmiths Ale 5.0% (both Coniston Brewing Co) at the Black Bull.
Still nothing to beat the Coniston brews although the Lancaster Black was very good.

| The cost of the beer in the Mallard has been mentioned on here in recent weeks (£2.55 for Magnet) ... Miles cheaper than the Boat Inn at Sprotborough (£2.80 for Adnams Broadside). A particular favourite of mine but very expensive.

The Redoubt (at the start of the Westgate Run) and the White Hart (also on Westgate).
A new beer sampled was Clarks Wakey Wakey in Henry Boons.

| Dronfield, Whiston & Rotherham yesterday.
Thornbridge Lord Marples, Coach & Horses (Dronfield).
JS Magnet, Jolly Farmer (Dronfield Woodhouse).
Beartown Bearskinful, Chequers (Whiston).
Elland Night Porter, Bluecoat (Rotherham).
All very nice, don't believe I've had the Thornbridge brew before and the Beartown was definitely a new one.

| Recently got back from Boston (the American one) where it was almost all Samuel Adams and almost all lager.
They did however have a couple of good beers, including one called Brick Red and the other called Octoberfest. Both of which were very nice, with the former being my favourite
If you're ever over there you have to go to the brewery tour, free to get in and 5 samples at the end (made all the better if the wife doesn't drink)

Had some stonking beers this evening. Jarrow Caulker, a light, refreshing and tasty beer, a Black Country beer whose name I forget but was very tasty and the irrepressible Ashover Coffin Lane Stout. As my kids would say Mint'"
The Chequers is back in the 2010 GBG and is joined by the Sitwell Arms.
(Golden Ball and Hind also still in).
