| Having two home games against Championship opposition where we are on an almost guaranteed loser in the NRC is not good for future crowd potential.
A further big problem, in my opinion, is the number of fixtures. Only nine home games for the Dons to make a mark on the people of Doncaster. Not really enough to build up a head of steam in my opinion.

| I don't know how clubs survive on the tiny amount of meaningful fixtures we are given.

| Quote: HatfieldWoodhouseDon "I’m not sure if this fits within this post, but here goes.
I’ve read these post game comments with interest and I’m not qualified to agree or disagree with what you loyal supporters have written. What I do feel qualified to comment on, is as someone who came along yesterday for the first time in three years with my daughter to see what the 2012 season may hold for Doncaster RLFC.
I had read in the press and on this forum about the existing new signings, this is the season where promotion is a must, success would increase the crowds, etc.
My daughter asked me at half time, as a local business man, would I invest my money in Doncaster RLFC? The simple answer was ‘not again’. I had already invested £25 with no sign of any return!
With most things in life, it’s the first impressions which count. Unfortunately, yesterday’s performance certainly made a lasting impression.
Anyway what do I know? Good luck to you all this season and I wish you every success you fans deserve. I’ll be watching Doncaster RLFC with interest but from a distance.'"
Thanks for your feedback HatfieldWoodhouseDon. I can't personally comment on yesterday's game as I couldn't attend due to a family event but what I can comment on is the fact that the behind the scenes staff at the Dons are working tirelessly to make the club a success both on and off the field.
I'm pleased you've read about the new signings, promotion ambitions, etc. in the press as we are all working our socks off to raise the awareness and profile of the club whatever way we can through the traditional approach, social media networking and our community development school programmes. So I feel like we've done our bit to entice you back to watch a game after a three year lay-off but I appreciate it was a bad day at the office against a very strong Sheffield side.
Now I understand that Rugby League in Doncaster is not a priority for the majority of people who live here and football is their preferred choice of sport. That's perfectly fine and maybe I've been spoiled in the past having worked at both Cas Tigers and Hull FC who love their league more than anything else.
However, as a Doncaster resident, I would love nothing more than a successful league team in Doncaster that could one day compete with the likes of Leeds and Wigan in front of a packed house at the Keepmoat. That is the ultimate ambition of the Dons and it should be same for the fans and supporters of the club. I know this is not going to happen overnight, it could take 10, 15, 20 years to get where they want to be but they won't get there without the support and backing of the people who live in and around the town.
We have a fantastic stadium that is better than a lot of those in Super League and we have a population bigger than a few towns who boast a Super League club. Those of us who come on here and support the Dons through thick and thin are of course biased when we say it's the 'greatest game' and maybe the RFL need to do more to promote the game to the nation as I for one find union a kick-a-thon that is hard to watch and don't get me started about the round ball game which is mostly played by overpaid prima donna's.
I hope you have second thoughts and return to watch a league game as getting out of Championship 1 is the Dons main priority this season - I don't think it's fair to judge a team after one performance. We all know fans are fickle and nobody likes losing but it's the good times that make the bad times all the worthwhile...

| Deal All,
My posting wasn’t aimed at ruffling any feathers, just my layman’s view on yesterday’s match. I apologise for any offence it may have caused the readers.
I’ve watched the Dons home and away for over 20 years and witnessed highs (winning promotion at Batley and more recently at Warrington and beating Saint Helens away) and the lows, too many which I care not to recall. It was only because of work commitments I stopped going. So, from my humble experience I don’t feel I’m judging yesterday’s performance standalone.
I naively came to the game, it being our local derby, expecting a closer fought match. But at over a point a minute into the second half I hope you can understand my frustration. I didn’t expect a win against a more established club in a higher division but what I did expect was a little more effort than what I saw.
Maybe what I witness yesterday was ‘a bad day at the office’ time will tell.
I have no doubt that everyone behind the scenes is working hard. You had ‘done your bit’ as you say as you enticed me back, and you’ve got me commenting on this forum, albeit for the wrong reason.
Again sorry, I did not post to offend.

None taken. I'm just sorry you didn't pick a better game.

No offence taken. I've been away for nearly as long as you but having been to three games so far, I have seen much more positive than negative in the past few weeks. That was by far the worst performance of the three against a strong Sheffield side who treated us with 100% respect, which was gratifying in itself.
It will get better, starting with a home win against Whitehaven.

| He's assembled a good team as Aston.
He must have had a chuckle to himself at what his team did yesterday. And he must also chuckle that decent Dons players go and play for him instead of us and then come back and drub his South Yorkshire rivals.
And all on just about the same crowds.
Still, the wheel will turn and I look forward to a day when we get our own back.

| I have an apology to make for having a go (verbally) at a Dons fan who was critical of the ref . He was crap , inept even . I was annoyed that we gave numerous penalties away in the 1st half & our tackling was inept , my point was he didnt miss the tackles & stray off side etc
I also had a pop at one of our players by name for a missed tackle . it was a very frustrating day I hate us loosing it hurts even more when its to our closest rivals. They are a very good side , well coached also.
Hope we come back a stronger side for the defeat !

That's the beauty of walking out. It saves unnecessary abuse of players.

| yesterday was a big disappointment, but my own thoughts are yes it is hard to stomach losing to our nearest rivals, living and working in sheffield it does pee me off.but lets not get to downbeat im glad that we are playing 3 championship teams who are above us in terms of being full time pros,i would rather us get a good work out and loose than play 3 teams that are whipping boys and be run away winners.its a long season ahead and i for one will be there.coyd.
