I think some of you with best intentions are missing the point no matter who is alleged to have dropped him in it the fact is he must have told someone and if as seems likely he did it there is only 1 person to blame.

Dave Parker has today in his League Weekly column distanced himself from any involvement stating he saw it in the paper around 8am on Thursday and spoke to Geoff Sweet later that morning to be told that it was the papers policy to tell no one outside the office.

Noted. Journalists have to have sources for most of their exclusive items of work I suspect and with that I also suspect comes some type of reward. They appear to feed off of each other like some Hack type feeding frenzy. When the 'story' broke last week it quicky did the rounds on TV, Radio and most of the papers. They can't get enough of a scandal or a juicy story and if you run a gossip column for a RL paper then tit bits and scraps make column inches. I am not suggesting any collusion has taken place and folk will make up their own minds what their opinion is over the matter. The eventual outcome may be compelling.

only just got back from crete. talk about shock when i heard. was sat at the hotel bar, when a irish guy came over (i had been talking to him a few nights earlier) when he said ive just been reading about your club, blimey. i was like, what, he fetched me the paper. i was stunned, utterly stunned, just like everybody else was reading these comments. there were several rugby league fans in the hotel, so a amazing discussion. They all initially said instant ban and should never play again. they changed their minds when i explained to them what leafy has been through with us, how many times he played for us unpaid just so the club could continue. As i said a 12 month ban maybe, but if it happens, i dont want the club to shut the door on leafy returning, he stuck by us and we must stick by him.

Thats the crux of the entire thing.
