theres only one real rugby league team in cumbria namely whitehaven rugby football club: |
|
| well played last night thought your full back and your prop number 8 was immense, town just couldnt cope with the first half onslaught.strange really considering they have a team full of players who by all accounts are all more than capable of playing in super league. looking forward to your visit up at the rec 5th aug should be a cracker.

Marvellous!'" .have seen him play fullback a lot. but never as nervous as he was last night. butts has got big boots to fill the way he has been playing. i thought good to see the lads with injuries sat in the crowd buzzing as much as the rest of the fans . so onwards whitehaven now becomes our next cup final.( wot about a stopover carl ?) lets do the job right .well done to everyone last night.

Reading everything that he put on Facebook and Twitter about being nervy, I think he did really well. He pulled off a couple of outstanding takes in the second half.

| Last nights was for me without a doubt the best all round team performance by a Dons team since we moved to the Keepmoat.

Yes it was very good.
Incidentally, what was notable to me though was that although Waterman was brilliant at fullback we missed his power at left centre. Robinson and Cooke scored in his normal scoring area and I think he would have had a field day.
Still it was the right choice.
The cutting edge has gone without Hodson and Waterman down the left. We will have to graft out our tries and victories if Waterman stays at fullback.

| Maybe TM played Waterman at full back because we were against a strong side, and you would probably expect the same at Whitehaven, after that he may move back to centre against sides that we can maybe expect to score some points against, I don't think he will finish the season as a full back, but then again I didn't think he would be at full back in the first place, and we all know how that went.

I will second that. The pleasure that was taken from that performance will last a long time. Have to say that the decision taken by the Chief Exec and the Coach to get Cooky to the Keepmoat was priceless. The bloke was everywhere and If he missed I tackle I didn't witness it. His leadership is exactly what has been missing in previous seasons and watching him organize out on the park is a joy to watch.

Was talking to a guy in the Australian Media this morning, who watched the game on TV, he said it seemed strange that Cooke and Calderwood were down at this level, but the desire and effort from the Dons was what won through. He also said that Cookes attitude to the game has shone through, and having someone of his experience on the training ground is a great help.

| It was a good defensive effort from Doncaster but the reality is that in the end it was only 3 tries to 1. If their winger (Miller) had taken a pass just after Donny had scored and Calderwood had been allowed to play on when the ball was knocked to him by a Donny player that could so easily have been two scores. Then at the end they had an overlap of 4 to 2 and Calderwood dropped the ball. So, yes, enjoy the win but even as poorly as Workington played they could still have pinched something from the game.

Workington didn't play poorly, they were outplayed ... there is a difference.
