| Another couple of enjoyable pints in the Lower Angel, Warrington last night, one new to me, the other an old favourite.
Cross Bay Witching Hour 4.4%, a crystal wheat beer. Clear golden in colour and less hoppy than I anticipated with a sufficient malty taste to get a tick from me.
Moorhouses Pride of Pendle 4.1%, an always enjoyable, easy drinking amber bitter with some fruit and malt and a hint of caramel.

| The Corner Pin have had a couple of interesting Welbeck Abbey brews available in the last couple of days ...
Wheatsheaf 5.8% is a cloudy malted wheat beer.
Burning Firedog 4.3%, a proper winter warmer, malty with a hint of pepper.
Both were very enjoyable.

| Sampled some enjoyable ales in Doncaster yesterday during a meet up with former work colleagues ...
The Draughtsman - Wilde Child Darkness Cometh 4.6%, not the best chocolate and orange stout I've had but certainly decent.
The Plough - Acorn Barnsley Bitter 3.8%, preference would always be for the Stancill version but this is always nice enough.
The Queens - Bradfield Farmers Belgian Blue 4.9%, wonderful. Apparently, they're on their 4th barrel this week
Marketplace Alehouse and Deli - Jolly Sailor Dark Nights 5.0%, a very nice chocolate and coffee porter.
The Leopard - Two Roses Nailmaker 4.3%, an enjoyable chocolate and vanilla porter.
The Corner Pin - Bradfield Farmers Brown Cow 4.2%, an excellent chestnut coloured ale, lightly malted with a hint of citrus.

| Almost forget to mention Bury on Saturday night. In fairness, not too many beers to get excited about and a run of the mill selection (for my tastes), across four different outlets.
The best two of the evening were those sampled in the Robert Peel ...
Bradfield Farmers Brown Cow, which I'd had the previous day in the Corner Pin and Swannay Dark Munro 4.0%, a ruby red mild with some chocolate and a hint of rye on the aftertaste.

| The Corner Pin currently has available Bradfield Farmers Stout 4.5%, roasted malts and oats, coffee and caramel. Always welcome.
Also, Geeves Captain Gingerbread 4.3%, a hazy wheat beer. Some citrus fruits leading to a root ginger finish. Quite quaffable.

| Corner Pin last night ...
Brains Bread of Heaven 4.0%, a dark brown bitter which I've not had for some time. Some sweetness, possibly treacle or syrup, with the malt. Nice.
Otter All Black 4.0%, a dark beer, reportedly a bitter. Apparently has orange, not overly obvious. Not unpleasant but not quite as advertised.

Exit 33 Oat Stout 5.0%, roasted malts and some chocolate, in The Queens.
Wychwood Bah Humbug 4.3%, a Christmas ale / Winter warmer with toffee and fruit flavours, in the Gatehouse (they had one or two other Christmas ales on already too).

| A couple of new and decent ales sampled in the Lower Angel, Warrington on Thursday evening.
Ascot Brewing Company Galloping Reindeer 4.2%, a new brewery to me but a very nice winter ale. Dark brown in colour, malty with some fruit and a hint of toffee.
Wishbone Black Porter 6.0%, this packs a punch! Roasted malts in abundance, coffee, chocolate, some fruit and liquorice. Very nice but probably only in moderation.
