| Only positive for me was the work rate of Nathan Powley when he came on, for me he was our only stand out player and gave us the spark in the last 15-20 min.
Sheffield are a far better side in terms of size and speed, their play of the ball was much faster and they gave their play makers options.
That said our tackling was shocking, too many players just shirt grabbing and falling off the tackle. Also we needed to wrap the ball up in the tackle to stop offloads.
Massive dissappointment to have our asres handed to us by the seagulls in our own backyard is not good.
Saying that we had a lot of players out, so hopefully they are back for sunday.
I am the same as most on here and think the nrc game should just be taken as friendlies but even for a friendly yesterday was well below par, hope we can just put a line through that now and more on.

| Yesterday was the first real look I've had at Powley, and despite his size, he gave a cracking performance. He was more than willing to run from dummy half, and his reading of the game from there was pretty good.

| If we had been on the top of our game, we would have still lost. Grudging praise where it is due, some of their tries were quality; one, however, was an outrageously fortunate bounce ( however, we have shown a reluctance to take the high ball on the full under pressure in all the three games I have seen at the Keepmoat to date ) and several we handed them on a plate letting them offload at will. Their distribution and support play was first-class however. Doubt any of our rivals in C1 will come close to emulating the Eagles. Chins up and onwards to March 11th.

| I’m not sure if this fits within this post, but here goes.
I’ve read these post game comments with interest and I’m not qualified to agree or disagree with what you loyal supporters have written. What I do feel qualified to comment on, is as someone who came along yesterday for the first time in three years with my daughter to see what the 2012 season may hold for Doncaster RLFC.
I had read in the press and on this forum about the existing new signings, this is the season where promotion is a must, success would increase the crowds, etc.
My daughter asked me at half time, as a local business man, would I invest my money in Doncaster RLFC? The simple answer was ‘not again’. I had already invested £25 with no sign of any return!
With most things in life, it’s the first impressions which count. Unfortunately, yesterday’s performance certainly made a lasting impression.
Anyway what do I know? Good luck to you all this season and I wish you every success you fans deserve. I’ll be watching Doncaster RLFC with interest but from a distance.

| i also think powley played well. think both hookers worked hard and stood out for me. quite worried that we have no proper cover at 6 or 7 when theres injuries. but think kez gave 100% while covering fawcett.
bring on the start of the proper season!

| That's a pity, HWD. It was a poor performance but Eagles are far superior to the League opposition we will face.I think we will be very competitive when C1 comes around. Hope you reconsider at a future date.

That's a shame because we are a far better team than yesterdays showing. Maybe you would have been better to come and see your first game against a team in our own league. The Dons have a young, new team, Sheffield on the other hand have an established team of quality players, probably one of the best outside of Super League. I would say give the Dons another go when the proper league season starts.

Yesterday was no really reflective of where we are at the moment, for starters we were playing a team in a higher division. Regularly we get people saying the last 3 times they have come we have lost, and it turns out the last three games were Saints in the Cup, Cas in the Cup and *insert another team from a higher division* in the cup.
I would ask you give them another go when we play someone in our division at least!
But here lies one of the big problems with the Northern Rail Cup for teams in our division. The first 4 games of the season, where new people may come along for a fresh start, are the hardest games we will play all year (give or take a cup run)

Very true. The format of the NRC does nothing but harm to CC1 clubs in promoting the forthcoming season. How many people will look at the papers and think 'Same old Dons', which as we know is not the case. I'm very confident that come the league season we will be up there challenging for promotion.

| i am sure that promotion is acheivable. it was a poor performance, we know that, they know that, but if you had seen the second half against york you would have seen the potential they have. some players who i would expect to start were not playing yesterday. come to a league game and im certain you will see a different team
