One of the reserve coaches is from Hull and many of the squad are from the Hull area. This begs the question, if they are good enough why aren't they on the books in some way shape or form with either Hull or Hull KR ?
Granted the choice is much greater in that area but surely the survival of Doncaster RLFC is dependant on bringing through local talent that local support can more readily relate to. And from what Ive seen so far they are no better than the Donny lads anyway whom I think would play with more pride for the club.
And like like yourself Baz, I'm not in the business of starting rumours either but one that is already doing the rounds is 4 or 5 more will be gone within a couple of weeks.
Watch this space, I think Jemmo could be right.

| The thing I cant understand though is we must be operating on budget. The crowds are no lower than last year (maybe around the 800 mark on average) but this year we have nowhere near the squad we had last year (or the coach on decent money).
Why are we suddenly struggling with the budget or finances is my question? Our outgoings ill bet are not even half of what they were last year , they cant be.
Also Gateshead have a team with a few overseas imports, a new coach who wont be there for nothing wages and are surviving on gates of around 300!

| I don't know what the cost is for playing at the Keepmoat or the cost for office rental but gues that is one of the big drains on finances compared with other clubs.I know all this should be in the financial planning but every year we seem to go astray.
Someone said to me at the start of the season I saw the first game at Doncaster and I will see the last.Hope he is not right but looks as though things are not good again

| Its already been debated, but looking at the possibility of sharing with the Rugby Union Club ought to be looked at. The Keepmoat is the biggest con this towns ever fell for, a community stadium run by a private company that bleeds its tenants dry.

You cant read anything in to that mate, we have the same thing at Fev, there are 6 Hull based players there, 4 in the first team, and perhaps more to come to the reserves on trial. Hull is a hotbed for RL at the minute with 6 sides in the Conference, 2 in Super League and a thriving local league. Hull and Rovers chuck kids about willy nilly and there is plenty of players for championship clubs.
Everyone wants a team full of local kids but at the end of the day would you really care if you was 3rd in the Championship with a reserve side having won 4 out of 4 but with players from out of town?

| They're a couple of good points but the facts are we aren't either 3rd in Championship or 4 wins for reserves . Next to bottom and the reserves have lost 4 from 4 including a defeat to Sheffield Eagles res who had 90 put past them by Widnes last week and twice to a poor York side.
That suggests to me at least that just because they are from Hull it doesn't mean they are automatically gonna be any better than anyone else.

We played Sheffield reserves last night and only just won 38-30. Granted we didnt play well but they are not that bad, they put out a young side to face a strong widnes side including people like danny mills.
What I was trying to say is that the club did the right thing sourcing players from Hull and given time I am sure they will get stronger.
I feel sorry for the people running the club, you simply cannot make small crowds provide the funds for a top side and the day to day stuff such as rent.
It is sad but every avenue seems to have been exhausted now in ways to bring in new support.

We had a financial backer last season.

The deal negotiated by the Club for the use of the Keepmoat for this season was a significant reduction financially on last. However, it may still be more than can realistically be afforded.

| Maybe you will need to yo-yo from Championship to Championship1 until your acadamy provides you with the nucleus of players needed to keep you in the championship. Will you really get a change in fans depending on the league you play in?

Probably a more sensible approach than the talk of a Super-League Franchise that we've heard from the club over the past five or six years.
Every time the Franchise is mentioned by the club--everything goes downhill a few weeks later.
In an ideal world it would be great to achieve---but realistically were a million miles away at this moment in time.
The problem is that the majority of Doncaster people will only support a team (Whatever the Sport) thats winning week in week out at the highest level.
Sad but True
