Quote: Stand-Offish "Perhaps he was bitterly disappointed and didn't think.
Perhaps he did think and was aware that certain people are calling for his head.

He is not the world's most smiley person at the best of times is he?
I remember congratulating him when he was in charge the first time.....we had just walloped Hunslet at their place in a friendly..about 58-16......I don't think he smiled once.
I wouldn't do it again.
Him and Ellery sitting in the stands used to annoy me.......and he still does.....but that's his choice.I would not criticise Miller for his coaching.

Look at the stick Noble got recently.....and he turned it around.
If we start witch-hunting at this stage of the season......we are doomed IMHO
We should get behind the coach.'"

Not a personal dig but I cannot understand people who ask why a coach is up there.

You can see nothing from the sidelines, not a thing as far as what a coach needs to be seeing. If it was such a good view down there then why not scrap stands and just have a rope round the pitch so all the fans can watch from there icon_lol.gif

Someone has to be up there looking for gaps reoccuring in the opposition defence, looking for players out of position in set moves, players out of position in defence so that these things can be addressed at once by getting a message out.

Like I said, not a personal dig, just a general point cos you hear it more and more from fans of clubs who are struggling. A coach on the side lines is not going to frighten the players into playing any better, his message through the head trainer should do it just as well if he has any respect icon_wink.gif

Just a point! Would anyone congratulate the same people who are calling for your head.'"

I really don't give a sh*t if he stays or goes, if he cant stand criticism then tough sh*t, but us as fans pay his wages, then a simple respect of the fans would be appreciated.

But as i stated not bothered if he stays or goes.

Everybody has there own opinions and comments, and these are mine.

Not all coaches do this......and by no means do coaches that sit in dugouts and get their message to the players personally coach sh/te sides.
Look at Dave Woods who coached Gateshead to the Div 1 title last year ...he was a sideline man....or he certainly was when he came to Donny.

I prefer sideline coach's with track suits on to coaches in stands with dress suits on......it gives a better impression of a team/coach bond....and psychology matters. There can still be a spotter in the stands (an assistant) but the coach should be seen to be hands-on.
Just my opinion of course.

It's an interesting one. If we were getting a fairly consistant level of performance, I wouldn't care where the Coach positioned himself or even think about it that much. I guess when things aren't working out that well supporters analyse things more and more.

My big problem is that we've heard the Club talk about stronger links with supporters but on recent evidence we seem to have a Coach who has forgotten that we exist.

The best marketing tools that the Club have are the Coach and the Players if they are used wisely.

Short memory or what, it was only a couple of seasons ago that the entire coaching staff and players turned their backs on the so called fans, why ! "Because of the crap SOME on here aim towards the Dons staff".

Respect is a two way thing.

Definitely not short of memory, and yes it was a pile of tripe we had back then, when the players and coaching staff as you put it `Because of the crap SOME on here aim towards the Dons staff stopped talking to the fans.".
( wasn't you something to do with the club then)Some of them deserved the crap that they got.

I travel to home and away games not like some people, so i will make comments about what i want and how i see it in my eyes and not hear say.

Its called being dedicated and not wanting your team to be disgraced week in week out and travelling fans having to watch the very poor performance like in the first half at Gateshead, but credit to whatever was said at half-time and the effort that the lads put in, the second half was a pleasure to watch.

See my posts are not just negative, i will post negative when i feel that its appropriate and credit when credit is due.

As Wanderer states the club said it would be doing more to integrate with fans, well ignorance from the coach doesn't help, and the players were well clapped and cheered off at full time.

And some wouldn't know a side step from late feet, How many of the so called no good players are now playing at a club with a higher standing than the Dons.

Well Jim i have a little knowledge of watching the dons for 28yrs and also coaching for 8 yrs including a spell coaching the under 18`s and assisting the coach with Doncaster Academy previously.

I dont brag about my knowledge, i just went about my business in a quiet and positive way, i received some criticism in my time as a coach but i accepted it as constructive and a learning tactic.

Anyway enough trying to sound like you and blowing my trumpet.

People will always beg to differ, that's why we are all individuals in our own way

Anyway enough said from me on this topic.

Bad coaching then if the players were all good enough.

Well I m no coach, but having watched the Dons for 20 years, I feel things are not looking too bright.

Having watched the reserves lately we appear to have 17 captains shouting abuse at each other, the opposition and the referee. I understand its a new team and there is a lot of talent on show that just needs harnessing.

I was no great fan of Hanley on some occasions but he did bring discipline, we can I now see it in the reserves and the first team that this is now lacking.

I can only feel this illustrates the lack of respect the players have for the coach, you only have to watch Handforth's frustration at never finding an attacking line and constantly having to play 5 drive rugby.

Could someone explain why Carey who appeared to have an excellent first game at full back and Luke May scored tries in the centres have changed positions?

Quote: Trotsky "

He didn't look too impressed when withdrawn midway through the first half at Gateshead when he missed touch with a penalty. Too be fair if we'd have withdrawn everyone who make a mistake in the first half we'd have had barely a player on the pitch by half-time.

Doncaster RFLC are top (equal) of the fair play league......which is a measure of sin-binnings, sendings-off and charges.
TOP.......that's one measure of discipline.
Not the only one admitted......'penalties against' is probably more relevant.
And I don't know the figures on that.
Discontent is harder to measure....and could be related to not winning.

i dont watch many games on tv anymore but when the screen focuses on the coach are they not normally stood in a box watching the game passing messages on i feel its better for the coach to be higher up than the sidelines

although i will agree to the obvious WE NEED A NEW COACH
