There is a thread that asks the club to admit they got it wrong, by saying we are now looking for players, have they not done that?, some said Rovers won't spend money on the Dons, yet Carl says there are funds available, personally, I don't believe he would lie to us, but everyone has their own opinion, and I respect that, they have a right to have their say, it's a forum. I believe we will stay up, won't be easy, but I think we will improve, yes new blood is needed, but not a new coach, again , my opinion. Don't think we will see a glut of signings, don't think we need many, had we had our injured players yesterday, I reckon we would have won that game yesterday.

The margins between winning and losing can be very small and that was the case yesterday. I believe that had Lee Waterman been playing instead of Alex Gilbey we would have probably won.

That's no reflection on Alex Gilbey as I feel for the lads that have to come into the side with little or no game time behind them. It's hard enough for an experienced player to be match fit and fully in tune with what's going on, never mind someone with little experience.

I didn't mention in my earlier post about the game that I thought Paul Cooke tried to take more control of the game by playing a more central role in attack. He was more prepared to take the line on, and his efforts showed how desperate he is to get our first win on the board.

A negative element from the game was our lack of pace generally.

But lee was carrying a knock so it doesn't matter if he would have done better out there he wasnt available to put out. I agree gilbey looked lost but I would say so did kittrick and at a lot of times in attack so did Mitch clark. But with certain players carrying injuries they seemed the only option and there was players out there heavily bandaged up too. Hopefully Craig Robinson is ok he was playing well before the injury.

Unfortunately he may have dislocated his shoulder and I agree he was playing really well. But doesn't it again bring into question Cooke's thinking because he favoured the DR players in the earlier games, ahead of Craig who always gives 110% and usually plays well.

No, it doesn't bring Paul Cooke's thinking into question. Craig Robinson has publicly stated that he agrees with the DR system.

What would Cooke have done if Craig stated he didn't agree with the DR system. Keep out of the team altogether?

I would have hoped that had Craig Robinson spoken out against the DR system Paul Cooke would have listened to his reasons and taken them on board. As a senior player his views should be respected. A good manager listens to people, although they might not always agree with what is being said, they certainly shouldn't hold honesty against them.

[iJust because you don't like what he's said, you're assuming he doesn't mean it.[/i

We need to remember the club has the DR arrangement with Hull because they want to. No one is forcing them to do it ... but then again maybe PC doesn't like it but can't speak out against it? Maybe Carl Hall doesn't like it but can't speak out against it?

No, common sense says that the club and management team do think DR adds something to the Dons or else they wouldn't be doing it.

Having said that, I can understand why a player may not think DR is a good idea. It could mean his place in the team is at risk, but competition for places happens from many sources, not just from DR.

A player might not be too happy if a new player was signed on a permanent basis as he could feel threatened by this too.

Competition from other sources, whatever they may be, is a fact of life in sport. The upshot should be that it drives players on to become better players.

The best response the current players can show, to make DR redundant, is to play well enough in order that they can't be left out! icon_wink.gif

We don't know the exact details of the DR agreement but I do think Cookes links with Hull play a big part. It's significant that Turgot, who had a decent game against Batley, is on loan from Hull but it's time to look elsewhere if we are going to get out of this situation.

I think there was a big difference when Robbo went off.

Logovi'i Mulipola the Leicester prop was there for a surprise 21st birthday gathering for Pas Dunn, There were many other ex Kiwi rugby league players present along with our old player Vila Matautia. I had the pleasure of chatting to Logovi'i and yes i do agree he is a man mountain.

Jamie Shaul also in the 19 but didn't play but suppose with the injuries they have and 2 games over Easter took the precaution not to risk injury playing for us.

Prop Chris Green was injured in the Cas match. He's likely to be out for some time. It's quite possible that with Hull's injury situation they didn't feel they could risk Paleaaesina getting injured playing for us.

Of course Hull are going to look after themselves first. They'd be daft not to.

We're always going to be reliant on their goodwill which is why DR is not the perfect way to go. We need to be able to be self-sufficient and have enough quality players of our own.
