OK, but I seem to remember he once said that I wasn't welcome at the club.
Mind you I have spoken to him a couple of times since and he found out who I was and he still didn't wallop me so perhaps it would be ok.
lol
I will contact Carl, but I still need the go-ahead from a mod.
Hello mods are you there?

| Some positive and constructive post as to how we can move forward in trying to build our fan base, I agree this can only be achieved by working with the powers that be. The greater the home support should increase the away following which as dwindled at an alarming rate, even though our average gate was up last year, which either suggest that it was the away following at the keepmoat the bolstered the numbers or the new found support haven't the desire to travel yet. Does the fact the fall in travelling support suggest that there are supportes who have stopped going altogether and we have indeed attracted new support who have started by attending home games initially?
I don't believe that results on the pitch have influenced our support to a great degree as our average hasn't changed greatly during the last few seasons when we have experienced Highs and lows, and indeed it's the league in which we compete determines the attendence through the travelling support they bring, which after Sunday leads me to believe we are probably the worst supported team away which is a far cry from a few years ago.
I think using this forum to help understand reasons why some fans don't attend any or more games is only a good thing, and if we can liaise with a club representative about any concerns or ideas that can add real value to a game day experience should benefit us all.
I believe we have a club to be proud of, and hope more people share that view, if so the dream of super league could be a reality.

| I have made the thread sticky (and removed the sticky preseason thread). As for what people want to discuss, as long as its related to the Dons it's suitable for here!

| I'll try and sum up where I think we're at based on what everyone has posted so far.
1) If we post ideas on here, will the club review and reply to them or do we need to have a nominated person to forward each idea individually to the club by email? if anyone from the club is reading this, could you please let us know?
2) Weighman is right in that we probably need someone young and dynamic to help take things forward but even if we can't find that someone, I would hope that the new owners would feel it's important to listen to our views because between us we have quite a few years experience of following the Dons and some potentially good ideas.
3) Car Park issues. The consensus seems to be that the club is missing out on revenue by charging so much and more current supporters would like to use it if it was sensibly priced. Greater overall income could possibly be gained if an initiative such as parking + programme for £3 was introduced. This issue could also be a reason why new people won't attend and why old supporters won't come back.
4) Publicity of games: Could we have a publicity poster in the programme advertising the next match for people to put up in their work places?
5) What can be done to get more posters into shops, etc, like Donny Knights seem able to do.
6) Would an email list of supporters wishing to be considered for away travel be helpful in getting more people to away games? How should this be managed?
Looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts.

| They are all valid and good points to raise DM
I would also add for my two penneth
[list * Concession Prices for pensioners (Bus Pass as ID)
* Concession Prices for those on benefits (Signing on Book for JSA etc etc as proof)
* Concession prices for students (NUS Membership Card as Proof)
* Ability to pay on the gate (this causes many elderly or less able supporters issues as well as being confusing for away fans)
* Can we get the away match videos online? so those unable to travel can still watch
[/list

| Keighley have just done v Whitehaven a discounted match £10, the gate was up.
With regard concessions this has been an on going dispute, £11 does seem a bit high.
With regard Students & the Unemployed how far do you go .Hope Steve doesn't think this is an I'm alright Jack attitude .
May be a review for 2015 is the answer.

| Every one seems to have there own opinions as to why the Dons home crowds have decreased the truth is we don't really know the true reason or reasons the only way to find out is by asking the stay away fans. You could do this through a questionnaire in the Star & Free Press or I think I still have somewhere a large list of supporters & shareholders name & addresses you could send them a questionnaire asking them if they still go to the Dons home games if the answer is no please state the reasons why.
Unless you find out the root of the problem you cant put any actions in place to improve the current situation.

| Again for some a season ticket isn't an option as the initial outlay is still to high.
I would say those 3 categories are enough and there are a great number of former fans who would fall in to two of those categories.
Student discounts is a good way to engage with the 16-19 audience as usually these would be expected to pay full fee yet are still in low paid jobs or full time education.

| I think 17-20 year olds are covered by the concession price.

| They are indeed, my mistake, but its still a hell of a leap from £3 to £11 for someone who is 17....somewhere between £5-£7 would be more appropriate, same for all concessions really.
As for getting more fans, could the club look into running a free coach servers from the interchange in town down to the ground as others have alluded to the bus service to/from the Keepmoat is a little bit vague.
