It was Mark Twain that said....the news of my death has been greatly exaggerated.
And so it is with the Dons.
Absolutely brilliant effort from the lads tonight.
I stayed the entire eighty minutes and clapped them off amidst a group of Halifax supporters who had taken over everything.
But I thank them for their revenue.
COY feckin D
If we can just keep the players we have it will be worth watching.
I don't give a feck about the RFL the b'astards....and the players that remain we should give them proper wages on the sly....fook the RFL.....we need to keep such as Weeden and Bauer.
The Dons....I salute you.

I just know how gut wrenching it is when the progress is made and then the worst thing imaginable happens, but donnie and Keighley are what I call proper clubs, plenty of history albeit mainly trophyless but never the less clubs who have always given everything in terms of trying to build for the better only to be kicked in the nuts time and time again.!!Glad your keeping an eye on our results, yeh were doing ok considering Barry has had to swap and change the team almost every week with injuries rife, should have a good run in though, take care bud.

I've found the perfect solution for Donny's season. I stay away and we play a whole lot better. Sounds like a great performance. Seems like we play better against the top teams too.

Don't think I'll be able to stay away though. I love a team of triers.

O & thanks Andrew. It's at times like this when you know who your friends are.

From a Fax fan-Many positives for Donny. Team spirit is very good and your players wanted it out their. Ellery ran hard as did all your forwards. Hopefully you can keep ALL your players now. Maybe worth asking Halifax if you can loan Anthony Bowman a good 17 year old halfback. He should have played last night! Keep going even when all hope seems lost. You still have your club and your pride and show the RFL you are still here and will be here despite how many expansion teams they try to bring in. Up the Dons!!

Although Halifax were better than us and bombed quite a few chances....the fact is that they don't need a leg up from the referee.
The game was finely balanced at 4-4 and about twenty odd minutes had elapsed.....it was a game.. a contest with both sides playing decent stuff....Halifax were better...but that doesn't matter.
So instead of leaving it alone and letting it go the ref had to intervene and spoil it.....not intentionally of course....but they should think twice about what they are doing...think twice about sticking that bloody whistle in their gobs and blowing it.

Alright if something is blatant fine.....but most things are just a matter of milliseconds...just a matter of how the ref is feeling at the time....and I find it inconsistent and game detroying.

Rather than admiring dogged resistance by a defending side against a superior attacking side the refs seem to be looking for reasons to penalise the defending side.....and so it's 'offside'...its 'holding down..it's 'hands on the ball' at the play the ball etc

And so it went last night a couple of nothingness penalties by a ref who must have thought he had nowt to do so had to stick his oar in gave Halifax the field position for their second and third tries.....GAME OVER.
All the hard work by the Dons came to nothing.

Some will say....'well don't give penalties away'...my point being there are blatant penalties and nitpicking penalties given by nitpicking refs who once they have given a few and destroyed a game let most things go then.
The number of forward passes thrown yesterday and unpunished was disgraceful.....except he spotted ours when we went over ( it was forward).

The best ref is one that you hardly notice.....I wish they could be a bit more lenient when games are tight and let the players dictate who wins.
All that said Halifax would have won anyway...so I am not knocking them....but we the spectators would have been treated to a closer more exciting game.
Once Halifax had got a few scores ahead they could relax and play rugby....our only hope was to not allow that and keep the scores close....the penalties at critical times killed us.

I'm not gloomy for the sake of it, just fed up of our perennial financial travails. Oh for a John Ryan-type figure.

I'll say this for us though, adversity does seem to bring out the bulldog spirit.

Good article and although everyone was excellent young Coady deserves special praise after reading this. He did look like a good centre in the making last night. Well done young man. If you couple that with Alex Benson's and China's efforts, who are also feeling their way back it was indeed a bloody good effort by all concerned.

My twopenneth as a 'neutral' viewer

Thought Donny played really well in the first half but ran out of steam badly in the second. The scoreline flattered fax at HT. Fax played a lot better in the second half and but for good defending and over ambitious-ness from Fax, they would have scored more. Good effort from Donny though, and if I was a Don, i'd be proud of the effort they showed.

It said a lot that the commentary team rated Coady highly as well icon_smile.gif
