Must say if it was our game plan to keep it tight in the middle and make it a forwards battle against one of the biggest packs in the division takes some balls and well done Tony.

Hate singling lads out after a great team display but imo Spurr tackled everything near him and Lucas made good strong yards everytime he had the ball.

Good to see another quality coach at the game as well yesterday,Agar was there watching again, hope he allows us to keep the duel reg lads again.

It will be a great day for SY RL next weekend. Let' s have both sets of fans getting behind our two teams and show the RFL how stupid they were in not giving us a single World Cup game between us in SY.

Up the Eagles!
Come on you Dons!

No-one's saying we ran away with it, Mr Mann. As other people are saying, the sending-off raised your game and it was a great backs-to-the-wall performance from us; it had to be. We were a bit predictable going forward but we took our chances and that was the difference. This Dons team is the best defensively I have seen in 30+ years of suffering.... er .....watching icon_razz.gif. They have heart with a capital H. As for Barrow, we lost narrowly playing nowhere near our best, so who knows. My gut feeling is we'll need a bit more flair than yesterday to take the trophy but it'll be a close one....if we have 17 fit players that is icon_sad.gif

We also had a passenger in Cooke that match thanks to THAT off the ball incident - meant we had to suddenly change our entire game plan and we lost an important sub.

Say what you mean and mean what you say because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.:

I am pretty sure we were down to 12 men for at least the last 10minutes if not more but still Worky couldn't score. Well done to al 17 who gave their all and fully deserved the win.

Regarding THAT off-the-ball "incident", I thought it was funny how Jemmo sidestepped the issue in the programme whereas other contributors including Tony Miller believe in calling a spade a spade. icon_lol.gif Next time Jemmo, just say what you see icon_wink.gif Hope you continue next season. Your thoughts are the best part of an otherwise very disappointing effort. No tables, no stats barring fixtures and results, no info about the opposition. I'll keep my £2 in my pocket if it doesn't improve next season.

I did just that for the last few games after buying all the programmes up until then.
Apart from Jemmo's article it is nothing but repetition with just the opposition's name changed each time.
It really does need to be worked on.
Dons please note!

Rob Donny, Stand Offish, etc, there you go again being blinkered!!!! Where have I said that I am a Worky fan? I am not as it happens but as I said your team struggled to get out of their own half against 12 men and with another referee Worky may have scored twice before you wrapped it up with the late score under the posts. They lacked a play-maker on the day but those two disallowed tries could have made it a different result.

I suppose you could be right ,i may be blinkered , but all i saw from workington was a bit of brute force and not much else. The Dons stood up to it and took their chances, scoreboards don't lie.The only part of our game that worried me were the short kick offs, didn't seem to be able to deal with them too well .

Yeah, who's disagreeing with that?
'If I was different and you were different and all the people we know were different, things might have worked out differently'.
But they didn't did they ... so what?

And where did I say you were a Worky fan?
The difference is you're Hugh Mann .... and they are sub Hugh Mann. icon_wink.gif

Blinkered eh?
That reminds me I need my oats .....haven't had them for a while. icon_cool.gif

Arguments about who might have said what when and how they might have said it really are fascinating to read for us all

My take on the game is:

We did well with what we had available and the team we were up against. We didn't create many chances but when we did we were clinical, add to that a near faultless defensive display (for some reason a strong defense is not seen as a positive or match winning attribute of Rugby league) and . To limit Workington, to 1 try in 160 minutes of Rugby at the Keepmoat is not a fluke, it is an attribute which has been the backbone of a successful game plan over a season in which we finished top of the table.

Yes we will more than likely have to improve on that if we are to beat Barrow who will be harder to shut out and with the missing players it is not going to be easy, we will not be favourites, just as we were 6th or 7th favourites to win the league at the start of the campaign, and we proved the odds are not impossible to over turn.

But whatever happens next week I quite frankly couldn't care less. We have done more than I expected or hoped, we've picked up a nice fat cheque on the way and have, at the very least, a day out and another cheque coming our way.
