| John Ryan speaking on Radio Sheffield this morning stated that he had resigned as chairman of the rovers because he no longer had any power at the club & he could be out voted on decisions affecting the club he also said he couldn't understand why the rovers had spent £100,000 on a rugby club.

| John Ryan quote in Yorkshire Post
"I felt very sorry for Paul Dickov (manager)whose hands were tied. Iwas also annoyed this week, to be honest, that we shelled out nearly £100,000 to buy the rugby club. Really? Rugby in Doncaster, no-ones interested...."
WELL I and OTHERS DO. Mr Ryan, please donot become a bitter man because you appear to have been stitched up by fellow directors !

| With no disrespect Donny is not really a football town either.
A great stadium a team does not make.
Both clubs are pretty equal in there respective sports regarding, League, results, attendances etc.
Ryan did a lot for the club but he will only sully his good name with throw away comments.

| Here's a video link to John Ryan's full press interviewhttps://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/doncaster/video-john-ryan-s-explosive-and-emotional-final-press-conference-in-full-1-6234369rl
The main reason why he's quit the Rovers appears to be due to the fact that he feels he can no longer work with major shareholder Terry Bramhall. The other directors are undermining him.
The comments he made about the Dons were rather glib and irritating. I have always had a lot of time for John Ryan as I felt that the Rovers would have been in a much worse position without him. My respect for the guy has dropped considerably after his comments about the Dons.
His comments about the Dons appeared to be a cheap shot at the other directors, and an easy way to find favour with the Rovers fans, as they would have liked another £100,000 invested in their side of the business, and not £100,000 invested in the Dons.
It'll be interesting to see how Terry Bramhall responds.
John Ryan seems like a bitter man at the moment. We'll probably never know whether that is with just cause or not as there are always two sides to every story. But I take great exception to him making such remarks about the Dons. His comments were pretty disrespectful to the Dons and the rugby supporting public of Doncaster. The club and the fans deserve to be treated with more respect than that.

Best part was he did press conference at Barnsley (which just happens to be my team) after what was the dullest game ever...

| He's a Rovers fan.
I don't think we should judge him without knowing all the facts.
His views on rugby are misguided because he's not interested in the game.
But he has done a lot for the Rovers and had he been a fan would have done the same for the Dons presumably.

| Someone should maybe remind Mr Ryan that without The Dons and The Belles and I believe the American Football team (The Mustangs?) the Rovers would still be at Belle Vue.
The Keepmoat was built as a community sports stadium not as the Rovers ground they were just tenants like us until they took over the stadium.
From the interviews I have heard it seems that the remaining board seem keen to develop the Doncaster RLFC brand and to invest in it, as others have pointed out it will cost much less to get a Doncaster side into Superleage than the Rovers into the Premiership, I dare say the Dons in SL would cost less than keeping the Rovers in the Championship to.
With the right investment hopefully PC can attract some of the talent that's been on display in the RLWC from the south seas and get some buzz going around the town.

That seems to be the crux of the 'situation' as I see it as well.

Mr Ryan and the rovers fans should think on that 100k is hardly going to turn them from relegation favourites into premier league material. 100k wouldnt pay for a decent League 2 player.
Also after listening to the 2 interviews on Radio Sheffield last night its clear that Ryan has thrown his toys out of the pram.He was insinuating that Bramall and the others had gone behind his back to resurrect the Sequentia deal without him knowing. Bramall meanwhile was playing a flat bat on everything.Paul Walker asked him 2 or 3 times if he was going to stay or walk away and couldnt get a solid answer out of him.
Also as an aside to all this can someone please explain to me what Sequentia see in the Rovers? Normally when companies like this get involved its to make there little bit of money and get out. Rovers have no assets when you think about it , it'll cost a fortune to get the team anywhere near the premier league so I dont understand what the attraction is.
Is the press conference still going ahead today?

| I suspect as my dad has alluded to the deal with the Rovers has something to do with land/property I suspect the old Belle Vue site might be involved.

I know Weighman earlier dismissed the google link with information on but it is key to whats going on.
For me in a nutshell the situation is this. If Sequentia takeover the club then the same people will own the land and the club. The same people are involved in the deals.Sequentia as a hedge fund are only in it to make money IMO.That is the nature of their business.I cannot see how a company like this are going to suddenly pump millions of pounds into Rovers or our beloved Dons. The question is what is the benefit of having this "Club Doncaster" ? Does it make it easier for Sequentia to rid of in a few years when they have made their money?
Lots of questions are out there and ill be honest I dont know the full story around everything , but the more I hear about it the more I dont want the Dons to be involved.I just dont see where the benefit is of us being owned by a hedge fund based in Belize?!
