| Very high scoring game, was it a decent game? Although a loss, how did Crooks go?

Still wonder where you would be without the 'Keepmote'
Have a good rest of the season and see you next year. Contact me next year before you return to Cougar Park and I'll send you a detailed map of the pitch.'"
I am not having a go at the Cougars team, it's the state of the pitch, it's sloping and very uneven although it's the same for both teams, it must offer some advantage to Keighley.
Whereas, when you come to the Keepmoat, you have a beautiful surface on which to parade your skills with little chance of tripping over a hillock here and there.
As for Tattersfield, I don't know if you went there in the last few years we were there in the early nineties, we had turned it into a fantastic playing surface with new drainage, new grass and a very level surface.
If you want to see a superb pitch in dumpish surroundings, a bit like yours , you only have to go and have a look at Wakefield's playing surface ... it's like a bowling green.
Yours could be like that ... so why isn't it?
Don't take it personally ... luckily your team is better than the pitch.

| I wish this forum had a like button because I would click Stand-Offish's comment.
What benefit is there to owning a ground if it isn't maintained.
I know I have been supportive of a move to Castle Park but that is only for crowd numbers. If we get a good away support (like the Leigh game) that the Keepmoat is great. It's when the away support is small (Keighley for example) that the Keepmoat isn't ideal.
But to counter geoffbaxter comments about the Keepmoat. It is a community stadium, it's shared by Doncaster Rovers, Doncaster Rovers Belles, Doncaster Athletics Club, and it's also used by the Mustangs American Football team. Doncaster Rovers manage it, and there is a very long term lease. The stadium has now been subject to a community asset application, and if successful this will provides a double lock in terms of community use.
The whole idea behind this model is that the entire stadium is sustainable and can be maintained. Cougar Park is in desperate need of work. The pitch looks a priority but then this is perhaps an advantage to the home team. As far back as I can remember the pitch has been poorly maintained. On some times I have been I swear the grass must have been 6 inches long.
It's OK owning your own stadium but also need to maintain it. It's like living in a house that is falling down.
At least when we were at Tattersfield improvements were made.

| Quote: Donny "The one just before half time is the one I'd be interested to see, both touch judges didn't give it, yet the ref did....'"
The one where the 2 TJ's both stood their ground independently of each other only to be individually overruled was nothing short of staggering ... can't recall too many instances of that
A couple of other tries seemed to really upset the players too. One in the first half which looked a knock on and one in the second which looked a double movement.
That said we certainly contributed to our own downfall, 2 attacking kicks resulting directly in Keighley tries, 1 dropped catch for another and some very poor attempts at tackles where Keighley players simply ran through us.
Need to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and tighten up defensively for the visit of the Eagles.
COYD.

| I know the Seagulls aren't in the best of nick, but they must be looking forward to getting revenge over a Dons side that kept Leigh to 16 yet conceded 78 points in their next two games against lower sides.
Not good ......

| Yes we need to be very wary of this weekend, I don't think anyone expected our roles to have reversed quite so dramatically this year to such an extent where technically we are favourites going into this game. But if the Seagulls are to gain any pride out of this season at all they are going to have to beat us, so they will be going all out

| So, 'originaldragon', just remind me once again how much you actually spend on the pitch?
Quote: "it's shared by Doncaster Rovers, Doncaster Rovers Belles, Doncaster Athletics Club, and it's also used by the Mustangs American Football team. Doncaster Rovers manage it, and there is a very long term lease. '"
Doncaster Rovers: hmm, I bet that they spend very little on the pitch as, no doubt will Doncaster Rovers Belles, after all they don't need to play on a level playing field do they?
So you pay Doncaster Rovers to manage the entire pitch on behalf of yourselves?
Please don't start to criticise the pitch for losing yesterday, after all you've beaten us at Lawkholme on previous occasions.
Come to think about it, why not criticise the slope on Batley's pitch?
Both pitches have been the same for 100 years!

| Our owners paid every penny of the complete pitch resurfacing last month as it happens.
Is anyone actually blaming the pitch? They're commenting on it, but that doesn't mean they're blaming it. I commented to a waiter about my starter being cold yesterday but I don't imagine it had much of a baring on the result

Gary has hit the nail on the head with this post. The worrying thing though about the 2 attacking kicks is that they were both shockers , the first one the only player who was switched on to it was Paul March and the second one was caught by Shickell who is about as quick as me and went 80 metres with it!
The first half affair though with the ref was a joke. We had one disallowed and also a certain try chalked off for obstruction and all the players couldn't believe it.Then the farce with Keighleys try and the flag wavers.
P.s Yes the pitch was poor. If I can make my back and front lawns like bowling greens by putting down the right stuff and looking after it then surely rugby clubs can. (The pitch wasn't to blame for the defeat though .Keighley took the chances we gave them and pinched the points)
We have to tighten up on Sunday or the eagles will run riot. The lads need to watch the tape back.It wont make good viewing but we have to learn from it. We shouldn't be conceding 44 points at Keighley.

| When we played at Keighley last season the pitch was covered in dandelions and daisies. At least two of the Keighley tries were scored whilst our full-back was sat cross-legged under the posts making daisy chains.
